I've had the chest cold from hell for the last couple weeks so I'm glad I was able to even run my 15k. It was much slower than I would have liked to see, but ok considering.
I am not on track. Illness (mostly the kids, but me too) has really wiped out my energy and windows of opportunity. I'm ready to put January behind us and hope that February brings a fresh start and more healthy days.
Fri: Rest Sat: 1hr 30min run w/ 10 min strong finish Sun: 1st swim coach session!
My main goal for this year was to improve my swimming. I met with my swim coach for the first time and it went really well. I wish I had done it years ago. It was great to have someone give me feedback real time and tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong. I'm excited to work on what he taught me and to keep progressing.
Sat: Half marathon. I signed up the week before and essentially didn't really train, but my mpw were around 20-25 so figured I was ok. PR'd by 45 seconds. Couldn't feel my hands for a good ten minutes after the race (must wear better winter gloves...) and realized I cannot run a half marathon without additional fuel at some point cause I almost passed out at mile 10 (and took some nasty gatorade cause I couldn't get my hands to function enough to get into my fuel belt). So...noted for the future.
Sun: Nothing
I work with a lot of runners and we have a chat group at work. I came to the realization today that I am a good 20 years older than most of them. Oy...
