How are y’all doing? What are you up to this weekend? Every day runs together for me lately. No complaints, but nighttime is the toughest. A goes back to work on Monday and I am a little nervous about taking care of D on my own with the dogs. She’s not yet big enough for my baby carriers so the next few weeks until she reaches 8 pounds or so will be a little tough. Hopefully I’ll figure it out!
I'm sure you'll be able to handle things with A back at work, but I can definitely understand that being stressful and even a bit intimidating.
I opted out of dates yesterday because I was feeling overwhelmed and instead I stayed in and took care of some things in my apartment after going to my old partner's baby's 1st birthday party and running a couple of errands. I feel better having gotten some things done. Now I just have to decide whether I'm going to do drop off laundry service or one of the pickup and delivery ones. Or just wait until Thursday to do it myself.
Hang in there doglove! I'm sure you'll figure it out but can certainly imagine it's stressful.
I did nothing Friday night and it was lovely. I had a bunch of stuff on my DVR I wanted to catch up on so it was pjs, wine, and my couch all night. Last night I went for cocktails at my next door neighbor's house and then we went out to dinner at a really good Italian place. When I was first thinking about moving here I was so worried that I would never have neighbor friends like the ones I had in Atlanta. I was convinced that atmosphere was a once in a lifetime experience. Turns out, I was wrong. My building is so social and it feels like I'm going to get the experience of "friend-neighbors" all over again.
I'm being lazy right now but going to walk on the beach later and also run some errands. I'll likely put the Super Bowl on too...I just don't care one bit about either of the teams so actually watching it isn't going to happen.

I had all kinds of good intentions this weekend of getting a bunch of chores done since I didn’t have my kid but that didn’t happen. Got my Xmas stuff put away finally and semi unpacked my suitcase from my travel the week before. Did laundry and got my 6 mile walks in each day (so I wasn’t a total slug at least). Went to Costco because I was having withdrawals (it’s in another town ) yesterday I even laid out in my back yard in my bikini and today it is freezing and snowing, go Colorado😃 Today I started looking at flights for this summer for Europe (my family is there and my kid goes to camp) Just got back from Paris and ready to go back again. I was gonna do a lot of cleaning this weekend but somehow that didn’t happen. Oh well.
doglove, This might seem silly, and she might be 8 pounds by now, but maybe get a dog walker to help out for now? Congrats again on the baby!
She is not yet 8 pounds, maybe 7 this week, but I did have two other wraps I am using that are from 0-35 pounds. The stroller is working out better though.
We do have a dog walker, but I’m not getting paid for my maternity leave (only with partial payment from my PTO) so paying a hundred dollars a week for a dog walker isn’t feasible for us right now.

Makes sense. The dog we had when the girls were babies is our Pug, so he was pretty easy to manage. They had this thing for running strollers, where you wore it around your waist and it had two bars that came out and attached to the handle bar of the stroller, so the person was now maybe a foot behind it. So, when running rather than holding and pushing, your body momentum was helping to push it along and allowed for your natural stride. Long explanation long, I feel like that would even be useful when walk a dog or dogs AND pushing a stroller.

Our dogs definitely can’t be trusted to be attached to the stroller! Ha! They are mostly well behaved, but both 75 pounds and if they see other dogs or even a squirrel, they’re trying to get to them. I do have hands free leashes I use for running that attach around my waist and that’s been working so far while I use my hands to push the stroller. For shorter quick bathroom break walks - I use the baby wrap. ☺️
Hang in there doglove, it will get easier. You are still a brand new mom figuring things out and by what I can see, you are doing great. Keep your chin up lady.
