Anyone experienced prodromal labor? I think that’s what’s going on over here. Every night for a couple of hours I have contractions that get regular but never amount to anything and then fade off.
It’s so annoying.
Anything I can do about this or will it just work itself out?
I had bad prodromal labor for almost 10 days. It stopped while I was taking a bath and he did a big movement. I had gotten all the way to 4-5 cm but was never in active labor. In my research I found positioning was highly correlated with prodromal labor. I did a lot of walking and labor stimulating methods (pumping, etc) but that didn’t help — what helped was relaxing and giving space for him to move into the correct position. But everyone is different!
I had it with DS, soooooooo annoying. I’d get excited and then they’d fade away before getting consistent enough to mean active labor. Ultimately my water broke at home with him and it was still another 7 hours before my contractions met the 5 minutes apart guideline, but at least I knew it was go time because of my water.

This is kind of where I’m at- like I had DD2 at 41+1 with an induction, so I’ve tried “all the things” but honestly, like if he’s not in a good position, there’s probably not much I can do besides chill out and let my body do it’s thing?
Maybe I’ll take a bath tomorrow- that does sound appealing!
Ugh, I’m so sorry! Mine just started a couple of days ago. I had it off and on for a few weeks, but I can’t imagine every night for weeks. I’m 39+1 so praying I’m favorable for induction soon and I won’t have 2 more weeks of this.
For DD I had it for 4 days after I had my bloody show. Sex finally worked to kick things into gear, however she still took 8 hours to show up after that.
For DS, I was walking around with contractions every 30 minutes and 4cm dilated for a full week, however his head was sideways when he engaged, so similar to PP there wasn’t enough pressure on my cervix to get things going. I tried everything and was doing spinning babies maneuvers all the time. My midwife eventually pulled me into the birthing unit and broke my water. After 2 hours of power walking with stronger contractions I felt him turn and slide past my pelvic bone and then he was out within 2 hours.
Hi I don’t go here anymore but I had it with DD for at least a week. It ended in me ultimately being induced at 40+1. I was so annoyed. I took a ton of walks with DS during that time and NOTHING HAPPENED. The start and stop brought me to tears on more than one occasion. I’m sorry.

Ugh sex is literally the last thing I want to do right now. My problem is that with both of my girls, they didn’t drop until right before they were born, DD1 slightly earlier than DD2. I’m so terrified to have to wait 2 more weeks after I was supposed to be induced. I hate myself for letting myself think “39 weeks and you’re done!” Stupid stupid stupid.
Obviously I’ll do what’s best for baby, but our freak snowstorm yesterday just added to my anxiety about another quick birth (DD2 was 4cm->born in 14 minutes) the main reason for the induction- if i have another quick birth and not at the hospital, I literally won’t make it. If it’s rush hour, like see ya in 2 hours. Ugh.
