I haven't been on MM for far too long. I came back just for this! Thank you for posting. It was as much a highlight as my niece's dog showing at Westminster. You always spend so much time and effort on this. Truly inspirational for those of us who aren't creative but sure wish we were.
Amazing! I love HoHo Rabbit! I have also never made a flan.
Bravo!
Me either! But it often shows up as a pun so I figured maybe it's time I figure it out. I found this Insta-Pot recipe for Baileys Irish Flan and borrowed my friend's Insta-Pot. It was pretty easy! You do need the special pan, though. I had back-up grocery-store pudding-cup flan though just in case it was a disaster. :-)

When I was a kid my dad used to make flan frequently. He would make it in Pyrex custard cups.

I guess it's the caramel part that people think is hard, because it goes from "good" to "burnt" really quickly. But the flan itself was just mixing eggs and cream and stuff and was very easy! It cooks in 16 minutes in the Insta-Pot but then has to chill overnight. For me, though, the more stuff I can do the day before the better, so that was a bonus. Only problem was I couldn't photograph it until right before I served it!
So how does something like the Yolker egg work ... does everyone get an egg? Cooked on request? Or is it just for show?
Just curious, it’s all really cool. I showed my H the pics and he was very impressed.
Usually for those things I'll just make one for the photo...although there's one guy every year who insists on having one of every Oscar food, so he'll even eat the grits or whatever. He made a bagel sandwich out of the egg and bacon! The ramen was surprisingly popular among the kids this year and I made two plates of pear bites and even so they were gone in moments. I think I'm going to make them for a baby shower I'm hosting later this month! I always have pizza as well, and other "regular" appetizer-y food, and a lot of people bring stuff too, usually with some sort of movie theme. Like a friend made a "bombshell" dip (it was like a round thing with artichoke and parmesan inside) and someone brought a "Black Tie" cake from Olive Garden.
