I'm a bit confused -- since it is a progressive tax system, you would only be taxed the amount over the limit at the higher bracket. I'm not sure how you could get a $30k tax increase without making $30k more. Are you sure the numbers are right?

Unless you are hitting some really weird phase outs, that's not possible.
