We are working with the DVC Rental Store to hopefully rent points for mid-November. We would really like to stay at Poly. Unfortunately our first request needed to be moved because availability was lost. We shifted things a day and I just heard that another day of that request has been fully booked (our arrival day).
Has anyone done a split stay with resorts? We would arrive on a Saturday and stay at one resort, then check out Sunday to stay the rest of the time at Poly (checking out Wednesday).
Is this a total pain? We were just there in October and were really hoping to get there around Christmas. We could definitely do October again, which is wide open for availability, but were hoping to see the Christmas decorations.

It's not a pain at all - we just did it last week! You pack up your stuff and call bell services to come pick it up. They arrive at your room, take your bags, and deliver them to the next resort for you. Once your room is ready at your second resort, you can call down and they'll bring your stuff to your room - they'll even move food!
The only caveat is that it can take many hours - I think they picked ours up at 10ish and said that it would be to our next resort by 4pm. We went to the park so it was fine, but if you wanted to swim or change your clothes you'd need to keep what you need with you.

We are doing a split stay coming up in April. Based on feedback from this group when I was booking that, it's not a big deal. Some people said it's a good day to go to the parks, due to the time it takes for your luggage to be transferred.
On our transfer day, we are actually planning to go to breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, then DD and I will stay and get manis/pedis at the Senses Spa at GF, while DH and DS go do something (ESPN Wide World of Sports or the NBA Experience at Disney Springs). We'll meet at the new resort in the afternoon and go to the pool. (We'll plan to each have a backpack with our swim stuff in case our room isn't ready at the new resort and/or our luggage hasn't arrived yet.)
ETA: If anyone is curious, we're transferring from All Star Movies to a DVC rental at Boardwalk.
We're DVC and we've done it a few times. Epcot resort for part of the stay, then move to a MK resort for the rest. It's fairly easy to do it. Sometimes we have Disney move the bags, other times we take the bags to the other resort via Lyft, as then we know they're there and will be available when we want them if we're planning a resort/pool day.
