I think in part as a long-time residual from accutane years ago added to the fact that I am a mouth breather and always have been.
I try to keep them moisturized and all, but they are usually dry and sometimes peel. I've tried all sorts of things including lightly exfoliating daily with a washcloth and then moisturizing.
So, what are your tips and tricks? I'm open to whatever you have for me! đ
I use Paula's Choice lip and body treatment balm as often as possible. I also got the Neosporin overnight lip repair, which makes a huge difference when I use it. I tried to avoid lipsticks that make my lips feel dried out or add to any peeling. I also try to avoid menthol, mint, or anything to tingly because those indicate irritation and definitely leave my lips feeling dryer in the end.
My lips are dry but also peel a lot so I like the Elf Lip Exfoliator to get all the dry stuff off. The original brown sugar version, the flavored ones have a different grit in them. For balm I like the Laneige Sleeping Mask. Plain Blistex is my go to chapstick. I also like lipsticks that are hydrating. ColourPopâs Lippie Stix in the cream formula have something in them that really works for me and they actually improve my lips while wearing them.

Lots of water, Laniege Lip Mask overnight and I've tried everything but this certain MLM lip gloss really helped me and it's the only thing I've been using for about two years now.

I use the Laneige Lip Mask every night plus random lip balms (Burt's Bees, Caudalie, Bite) whenever I feel like my lips are dry during the day. I also want to try the Tatcha overnight lip mask after seeing it recommended on IG but I need to use up Laneige first.
My lips honestly do the best when I leave them alone. I can go with just lipstick for weeks and then put on chapstick (usually because I find it while cleaning) and put it on, and my lips are dry and cracking by the next day. A lot of products have agents in them that are drying...so people do get addicted to them.
In the dead of winter, I use SkinFix Lip Repair Balm. That doesnât have the rebound effect for me. Itâs also colorless, odorless, and flavorless (truly...not just on the packaging).
I really want to know how the Laneige loop sleeping mask works for other people with dry lips. It's not enough for me! The Neosporin one works so much better and for cheaper, but the Laneige one looks better, even just at night.

The sleeping mask does absorb after about 20 mins for me but it does help smooth out my lips and doesnât leave them feeling dry or irritated like other balms. For longevity I actually enjoyed the Tatcha gold whatever balm. It took a few days of use but it worked really well. Iâm going to try their Kissu one when the Sephora sale starts.

Definitely drink water throughout the day. I have used several AB lip masks and theyâre pretty similar. Theyâre creamy and a couple last through the night. Laneige is probably my favorite out of them.
However, I have recently started using this and it blows sleeping masks out of the water in terms of lasting power. I wake up each more with it still going strong. Itâs called a lip gloss but theyâre combinations of oils. I think itâs referred to as a lip gloss instead of sleeping mask because it has a sticky texture that I always equate to lip glosses. Iâve been using it since Saturday and have seen an improvement. My lips arenât flaky anymore. I am also a mouth breather. Breathing through my nose is a rare luxury. So I understand chronic dry lips very well.
You might check what lip balms you have been using. Some have the opposite effect and actually dry you out.
ETA: Treat is my favorite lip balm for the daytime. I have the coconut âflavor.â I have yet to go through a stick. Well worth the price for the amount you get.
I swear by the Vaseline with cocoa butter. I slather it on before bed and my lips are perfect by the morning. Iâve been using this for years. I also drink a ton of water and that really does make a huge difference. I can tell when I havenât had enough water in a day by the state of my lips.

Yep, both of these things. (I use regular vaseline but this option sounds even better.)
