My favorite casino is Borgata but it's on the marina side and no access to the boardwalk.
If you prefer to be on the boardwalk I would stay at Tropicana (The Quarter) or Hard Rock. Trop is a better boardwalk location but Hard Rock isn't terrible.
We have stayed at The Claridge a few years ago and we really liked it. It wasn't super expensive in the summer.
How close is that to the Boardwalk/casinos? Thanks!
There's a walkway to Bally's from there. We stayed there for a Jimmy Buffett concert on the beach and we only had a 10 minute walk from our top floor room to the security checkpoint. It was nice to not have a casino in the hotel so it was quieter as we had our 4 and 6 year old and we had no problem walking the boardwalk. We would definitely stay again.
If I have a specific hotel I want to go to, I book through Hotels.com, Bookings.com, Expedia.com or TripAdvisor.com Whatever site gives me the best price and cash back from Ebates/Rakuten (right now Hotels.com and Trip Advisor have 4% cash back on Rakuten).
If I don't have a specific hotel but want a great price, I used Hotwire.com (they also offer 4% cash back on Rakuten). I don't know which hotel I am going to get but I can select the location and class and I have never been disappointed. I usually save $40-50 per night.

I agree with this. Borgata is my favorite by far but it is off the "main" casino area.

I was there in November and stayed at Harrah's. I was seriously impressed with the room (and I am a hotel snob). There was tons of stuff in the complex as well - clubs, restaurants, etc.
We usually stay at the Tropicana. I like the location, and the restaurants. The lobby is nice, too. The last time we went, we stayed at the Hyatt-owned Ocean Resort. It was previously the Revel. I'm not sure what the price is as we used a free Hyatt night. We had a basic hotel room, and it was huge. To be fair, everything about the hotel was huge. It's the closest to feeling like we were in Vegas down AC. There are plenty of restaurants & shops, too. We plan to go back for a night or two once the weather gets nicer. Their spa looked amazing and I definitely want to check that out next time.

I always forget about Rakuten, so thank you!
Just booked through Hotwire, and we got the Hard Rock!
