I don't like paying CC fees, but I get the reason for them. I would rather pay a fee with the option to use my card vs. cards not accepted at all.
It is! I also recall different business types get charged/processed differently. So Visa/MC etc charges a restaurant differently than they do a doctor's office. There is no transparency in the charges on the business end and it is very difficult to know or find out what all the assorted fees are for. I'm talking about the Visa/MC fees after the CC processor charges you the percentage on the transaction. Not the fees imposed by the CC processor itself, those are extra and negotiable. There are services that advertise something like "Flat 4% for all transactions" (I think Square does this?). They just bundle the fees into that flat percent and I think they don't break it down on their statements that way to keep the math simple for their users.
