Weirdly curly eyelashes?

Anyone else?

Just on one side. Every now and then, like once a year, my eyelashes on the left side start all curling in different directions. Like, into each other and such. Mascara just accentuates it and gets clumped up. I try to coax them to behave by carefully stroking the mascara wand, and I try to use a lash curler, but to no avail. Eventually as new lashes grow in the weirdness subsides but what a pain.

I know, first world. Any ideas?
