We have cruises on other cruise lines before and I’m meh about it but H loves it. He mentioned this one might be good because it’s 18 and over. While that does appeal to me I worry that it will be a big party boat. I’m a bit of a fudy dudy. I’m not a partier and go to been pretty early most nights.
Looking for those with experience. Is it a huge party all night? Other thoughts on the experience?
fernweh, have you ever been on a river cruise? Disney actually has a line now, adults only and the prices were not crazy. Just a thought. I think would like to give it a try.
So I do think they are going for a younger crowd based on the partnerships with DJ's like Duplo. That isn't necessarily bad. Cruises tend to have a big 50+ audience.
I would focus more on your cabin location (far from elevators or main access points than the evening culture of the ship. Most ships have a wide mix of folks from early to bed to out all night.
If you really want something more low key I'd consider some of the old school cruise ships like Cunard.
They’re a customer of mine. Back when I was selling to them they were just a small startup figuring it all out. Any time I’d go visit them they’d have me try out a chair or a mattress or get my opinion on some art work. Let me tell you....they were going for high end everything. I tried to negotiate a trip on their first sailing as part of our deal but was unsuccessful. Given what I know about them I’d sail on one of their voyages for sure.

If you want a no kids cruise without a party vibe, I’d look into the luxury cruise lines. I’ve been on Regent a couple times; while not technically kid free, it doesn’t have many (if any) kids on it due to the price. It also skews to an older, non-partying crowd.
We love sailing on Azamara. It is owned by Royal Caribbean, but there are only 3 ships with 680 passengers and you receive the same loyalty status as RCL ships. I have only seen a couple of toddlers on board over the 8 times we have sailed with them and usually they are the officers family. They are very focused on Destination Immersion, so they go to smaller ports that the big ships can't go and usually have a couple of overnights in port so you can experience the night time culture as well. Prices are similar to Oceania, but usually less than Regent or Seabourn.
The Virgin cruises look nice! I'd love to try one. Has anyone been on celebrity? Those don't seem to have a ton of kids.
We went on a celebrity cruise a couple years ago. It was on a ship that got tons of awards for being the best, etc. We were bored out of our minds and the average passenger was probably 92 years old. We’re not even remotely partiers or heavy drinkers either. We go to bed at 10-11 even on vacation and still thought it was boring. There were some kids because it was spring break. The shows weren’t even good.

We've been on a Regent cruise. It was a work reward trip so we didn't choose. I will admit it was very nice however our's was a much older crowd. They had things at night for the party feel but during the day (at sea) it was really just laying in the sun, drinking, casino, and a few shows. There was no kids allowed on ours. When you're on an adults only like this you tend to have larger rooms and we all had balconies which was standard. The only down fall is these cruises are usually small so you tend to notice the motion and larger waves easier. The last night on the boat going back to port there was a storm and with rocking/wind/waves our patio furniture went overboard, almost everyone was sea sick that night/next morning.
