I'm pretty new to using a brush for foundation, but I got one a month or so ago and really love it. (I switched to IT CC cream and got the brush that is sold with that.) Should i be washing the brush frequently? It seems like it pretty quickly gets all gunky and doesn't work as well as when it's clean. Am I supposed to be washing it like weekly? Even more often?
Also, should I get a special cleaner? I've just been using a gentle soap but it's not doing a great job.
Thank you!

Update:
So I tried the Cinema Secrets cleaner that Pippin recommended and it's ridiculously effective. I mean, I was kind of blown away. It was like some kind of magic trick. I've washed brushes before, and cleaned them with eye makeup remover, and they've gotten cleaner and more fluffy again. But this was some other level of clean entirely. You pour some of the cleaner into the little container that comes with it, then dip the brush in it, then wipe it on a washcloth or paper towel. I did that and ALLLLL the makeup kind of just ... fell out of the brush. I can't really explain it but I'm a 100% convert. I then cleaned my concealer brush and my powder brush and it's a whole new world. LOL. Thanks, Pippin !
I use Cinema Secrets brush wash weekly to get all the gunk off. It’s basically just dipping them each in the solution and then swirling them on a towel. Takes about 30 sec per brush. Super quick and they dry almost instantly. I do a deep clean every month or two were I actually wash my brushes. Also for my foundation brush (It Cos heart brush) I will swirl it on a wash cloth after each use so it doesn’t have a bunch of foundation stuck in it.
Thanks so much Pippin! I did the washcloth thing this morning with both of my brushes and even that made a big difference. But I'll pick up that brush cleaner when I can get to Sephora. Thank you!
I wash mine with Johnson's baby wash/shampoo when I do clean them (not often enough). The Cinema Secrets is supposed to be one of the best ways to clean them more regularly, though.
Thanks for all the replies. I had already tried my facial wash (the Target knock off of Cetaphil) and a regular gentle soap. Maybe it has to do with this specific CC cream but those weren't really helping. I bought the Cinema Secrets this weekned but didn't try it yet.
Just FYI, I think the Cinema Secrets stuff can either come with a little tin can to pour the solution into, or not. I mentioned in my update that it came with a container, so I wanted to clarify that I think that's optional. There's nothing magic about the tin can though; you could use anything similar to pour it into.

It looks like Sephora has an 8oz bottle for $24 OR an 8oz bottle with the tin for $25. How much is that tin worth?
