mae0111 we're not changing our kids activities for now. I figure it's not much different than them being together at school. But you should do whatever makes you most comfortable - I'm sure no one would fault you for skipping it.
It’s funny. DD1 has a small one-day tournament on Sunday as well, but it’s a much bigger gym with fewer kids than soccer, so I’m all for going to that. Soccer is a teeny gym and it’s got me all nervous.
To be clear, I am not nervous about getting the virus. I’m not immunocompromised, nor are my kids, and we will steer clear of my parents. I am, however, deathly afraid of a 3-week quarantine with no kitchen.
In better news, DH’s Cross-country trip to a corona epicenter that would have almost certainly gotten us quarantined has been cancelled, and meeting is now virtual. Thank goodness.
I'm apparently now part of the pilot program for our company for working from home next week. But I still need to come into the office for meetings.
ETA: hahahaha.. And now they just came by and said starting Wednesday, since they can't afford for me to not be here. The amusing part is that I'm one of the few people that we already KNOW can and does.
ETA #2: I also thought this would be a good time for them to buy me a software license that I actually need to function longer-term (more than a day) working remotely, but they don't like that idea. *whispers* it's less than $500.

sdlaura, Mexico is technically not one of the heavily affected areas, but I'm absolutely certain that it's because they haven't tested. There's no way they don't have more cases, given the number of tourists that go in and out of that country.
I'm more concerned that it's now been 8 hours and she still hasn't been able to figure out where she should go get tested.
sdlaura, At the ticket counter the lady was like "Have you been to China? No? You're good." No mention of symptoms, other countries, nothing. It was bizarre. Then coming back into the US, nothing.

mae0111 , I want to roll over my 403b from my previous employer to an IRA, but I'm going to wait for a few months now and hope it recovers a bit.
My employer sent out an email a little while ago to tell everyone who can to WFH tomorrow. They'll have an update on Sunday to say whether to continue WFH or return to the office. Based on what a few of my coworkers have said, it sounds like it is likely we'll WFH at least through next week.
Now I'm just waiting for the school to send out a communication that it will be closed (until ?). I'm hoping they will have a plan for teachers to record lessons and have kids do assignments through the system they use at school. (All students receive a laptop that they can use at school and home.) If they can't get the technology figured out, we have 5 more snow days to use up, but I would assume that we could get any additional days excused because the governor already issued a state of emergency.
ETA: The county health department met with representatives from all school districts in the county and is going to do a news conference shortly to announce plans about any changes to schools...

Most colleges and universities have moved to online either this week or next week after spring break. One school corporation has closed until next friday and then they will be closed for spring break.
twinmomma, she may not be able to be tested. I was just talking to a prospect whose daughters doctors are "pretty sure" she has coronavirus, but don't have access to tests. Their advice is to go home and self isolate, and if she feels better, its not coronavirus, if it lingers for longer than normal or she gets progressively worse, it's probably coronavirus.
Also my sad update, that I just lost my biggest new deal because of coronavirus and now my pipeline is looking pretty bleak.
School district is currently in session, campus daycare may or may not be shutting down. I am trying to get my giant undergrad class ready to go online. The undergrads are scared and freaking out. We have cases in town, I feel like it is a matter of time until the school district and/or daycare shuts down. And I am trying to work as fast as humanly possible to still meet all of my deadlines.
My sister just texted me to say that someone at the grocery story is fighting with another customer over whether or not they should be in this country because they could have brought it with them. We don't even have very many cases in our state, but it is very close by. Beau is Chinese. Our state is not known for diversity, so that story makes me so nervous for him. Like, sick to my stomach. Ugh.
Yes I think school is canceling soon. They called an emergency meeting so I think tomorrow maybe. Anyway, as soon as that happens no more extra curriculars also. So skip soccer for sure.
We just got notified that all extras at school are cancelled including facility rentals for sports. I'm just waiting for school to be cancelled completely. We start spring break on the 23rd so guess it is just a wait and see and contingence planning. I know I was grumbling this morning about college sports being closed to spectators, now they are just cancelled and I'm heart broken for those seniors who can't finish their final season of sports for many of them. I get why the government is shutting stuff down but it is also causing major panic. My friend across the way just texted me saying a client bought her unopened bottle of rubbing alcohol for $5 because she couldn't find it in store.

Our schools haven't closed yet but its getting closer because the district that DH's FD is in is closed. We have one week until break but our schools are already set up for elearning. Its childcare that is going to cause an issue for most.
Tomorrow morning I'm going to go stock up on the random crap that will suck if we run out of in the event we get stuck at home: dish soap, rabbit food, feminine products, booze.
I’m hoping since California is such a giant state that they’ll do closures county by county instead of the whole state like in Maryland and Ohio. Two weeks to go till our two week spring break...
Schools are shut down for 2 weeks, at this point. I’m lucky that I work there so I can stay home with my 3 kids but a lot of my friends are nurses-I’m not sure what they will do. We haven’t heard much about daycares in the area yet.
I started pulling kids back to back and getting things done and I mapped out the entire day today in 15 min increments so that I’m jamming as many tasks in there as possible. The paperwork, reports and notes will happen at home next week. Daycare will still be open for at least a few days. They said once it comes they will shut down.
Last night I stopped at the pharmacy. The grocery store was a madhouse at 8pm, I didn’t bother going in. The pharmacy had no toilet paper on the shelves. I need to do my regular grocery shopping for the week-I’m not sure the best approach. I guess it would depend on when shipments of items come in. I guess that is all different times?
DS1 is still sick with what we think is the flu. DH is taking him to the doctor today to make sure it's not an ear infection. As a result, we have postponed DS2's bday party to next weekend. Luckily, I haven't ordered any food except for a cake. But DH is going to call and get it postponed for next week. I called DS1's teacher to get his missed assignments and the flexible instruction day packets. I have a feeling that school closures are coming very soon. The state department of education is meeting today to decide. Our school provides Chromebooks to all students in grades 3-12 and packets for K-2. They just set up a system for remote learning, so this will be interesting. DH is a SAHD and will have his hands full if schools close. My office is pretty small (7 people) and we're pretty casual. So far, we'll keep coming to the office. If anyone gets sick, we'll work from home for at least a week so the germs on our desk die (since proper cleaning supplies are hard to come by). Boss is cool with anyone WFH if we are uncomfortable coming to the office.

My governor announced late last night all schools are closed March 16 - April 6. My district decided to close today as well. I'm hoping to be able to stop by today (office staff and administrators were told to report to work) to get DD's laptop so that she can do some schoolwork-type work the next few weeks. We've told the kids that they can't just laze around all day. At least the weather should be nice enough were they can get outside most days for a while.
Our spring break is scheduled April 2 - 10, so I guess we'll see what happens with that. We are supposed to fly out April 1 to go to WDW, and the WDW parks are now closed through March 31. I think DH and I will wait to decide the weekend before we're supposed to leave to decide what we do. We don't have the trip insurance for the DVC rental after all, so we're really hoping if we can't go when we originally planned to, that the guy will work with us to reschedule.
Well, schools are closed here for 2 weeks plus another week for spring break. Thankfully mine are older. I would be freaking out if I had to deal with piecing together childcare. DH is off most of next week, so he can keep them busy and I was going to take some time during spring break.
DH is going to the grocery today. We need our regular grocery items for the week. I have been trying to stock up, but with the kids out of school, if I try to stock for 2 weeks, they will go through it in 3 days. I'd have to keep it in my trunk or padlock the freezer.

They are closing Disney world for two weeks. I am not sure this has ever happened. They closed a day for 9/11, a day for a hurricane here and there. Universal is following suit. The roads were empty as I drive to work, admittedly very early this morning. Just me, my coffee, and the sound of the local economy crashing.
Schools are saying that as of now they’ll reopen after spring break. We will see.
My kids’ school just extended Spring Break for a week and set up distance learning for at least a week after that. DH thinks it’ll be a month.
I got up this morning after a crappy night of sleep, got dressed for work, still felt crappy, so I took my temp. I have a super-low grade fever (99.4) so I’m working from home. Luckily, I have a stuffy nose and sinus pressure, so I’m pretty sure my sinus infection from a couple of weeks ago is back. I’ve never been so happy for sinus pain in my life.
Not much has changed for us yet besides me being asked to work from home as much as possible and tball being cancelled for the next couple weeks (then it was already off for two weeks for spring break). I figure it’s just a matter of time though.
DH is not going to survive this virus. I took all week to make a pretty comprehensive list. He was going to the store this morning since he is off. He txts me and asks what is on the list, because he forgot. I am at work. In public health. I don't have a photographic memory. I wrote a list to remember what is on it. I can't remember what is on the list that is in the bar that you were supposed to take with you. Then he calls. He says he just has to get what he can because it's crazy. Duh. Hence the big ol list, so we wouldn't have to go back. And we are out of paper towels and so is the store.
Schools are closed starting Monday until April 1st. DD's before after care CC us on the email she sent to the superintendent pleading to let them stay open to help the burden of many single family homes. As when there is no school most single parents rely on grandparents or elderly neighbors to help watch their kids and in this case that is a bad idea. DD covered her head with the covers and screamed no. At almost 9 she is having a very hard time understand why everything is being cancelled and her empathy to the college athletes who lost their post season play is almost heart breaking. She broke down in tears last night over college gymnastics being cancelled and her favorite gymnast being done without a proper final meet. DD's teacher messages us this morning that she is sending home the spring break packet and is hoping to post daily dojo posts of fun activities/projects the kids could do to help with boredom. There is no way our district could even find the funds or implement online learning. Maybe at the high school level but no way for the K-8 levels.
