We are not frequent Disney trippers, we took my stepdaughters when they were younger (now they are 17 and 18) and DS has not been (age 7) so we are planning a trip this year. We do not want to go in the summer again due to heat and crowds. SD17 has a school break the last week of October, so I thought why not go then and do MNSSHP but in the other thread it sounded like some people felt it wasn't worth the cost.
Another option might be to go mid-November for DSs 8th birthday which is the 16th and it looks like there may be some Christmas decorations up by then which would THRILL him.
Anyone been during either time or both and want to give input?

I went Nov 11-18. It was great. Low crowds, good weather. Christmas decorations were up. We bought the tickets for the Very Merry Christmas Party, and I do think that's a waste of money. It seems like the lines for rides are every bit as long. Basically, I felt like we paid $100/person or whatever it was for a couple of cookies and some hot cocoa. I've never been in October, but November is a good time. If he's into Harry Potter, try to get a day in at Universal too.

So I am actually the HP fan in this family and we are doing 2 days at Universal for sure. He has been kinda interested but I'm getting him an interactive wand and we are going to do magic around the park until he turns into a wizard. Kidding. Kinda.

If you're trying to decide whether to get the park hopper tickets for Universal so you can take Hogwarts Express, my opinion is it's not worth it. It's kind of neat, but not super cool. If you'll be there for 2 days, I'd just do Universal Studios one day, Islands of Adventure one day, and don't worry about Hogwarts Express. And we are very into HP right now. The interactive wands were a huge hit.

I've got WWHP covered. I spent 4 days there for a HP event a few years ago with my good friend. The park hopper is worth it to ME but not the rest of these muggles. I've already ridden the express like 6 times so I figured we'd skip it 🤣

November was perfect weather and low crowds and Christmas decor. Check crowd calendars to make sure there aren’t any events going on during your days
