39 weeks today!

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week?
I'm being induced this week! I go in on Wednesday evening to get cervidil and a Cook's Catheter to help me dilate and then I'll start pitocin Thursday morning. I can't wait to kiss my baby and have her in my arms!

In general I'm not an alarmist. But I'm in a city with quarantined cruise passengers and a handful of identified coronavirus cases. The thought of going into a hospital this week gives me a little anxiety. Could be misplaced anxiety from having a new baby and leaving DS alone with my mom overnight for the first time, which is also stressing me out.

4. If you could splurge on one $$ baby related item what would it be?
I'd love to try to Snoo or the new 4moms bassinet.

2. I think she flipped because I feel like there is something stuck between my upper ribs and I am also feeling lots of movement down low. Getting uncomfortable. Lots of round ligament pain too.

4. Probably the snoo. We splurged on our stroller and a few other items that we will use a long time but I am finding it hard to splurge on this since it's our second and they are in the bassinet for such a short time.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I'm so ready to be done! It's still up in the air whether I'll try for a VBAC or do a repeat c/s. My midwife is going to check me early next week to see if I'm remotely dilated and we'll make a decision from there. I don't want to be induced, so the repeat c/s is scheduled for the 20th.

4. If you could splurge on one $$ baby related item what would it be? We splurged on a Snoo. I bought it during a 40% off sale and the resale value is pretty high in my area so I thought it was worth the risk.

2. I started working from home on Friday, which is an adjustment, but it's nice to not have to worry about COVID-19 transmission from taking public transit or from my office (in a huge skyscraper, with lots and lots of people).

3. What was your favorite source for baby name inspiration? 

4. I still have so much baby item research to do. I think it would be nice to have more $ in the budget for a fancier bassinet, but we're only using it for what... 4-6 months?

Very excited! We have everything ready, now we just need the baby. DS and DH are super excited and anxious too. I'm ready to have some relief from the hip pain I've been having at night, but other than that I honestly can't complain.

4. If you could splurge on one $$ baby related item what would it be? I think we might rent a Snoo. If I really had the money to spend I would hire a night nurse or full-time nanny, but that is not my life.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for the week? I think DS felt the baby move tonight. He had his hands on my belly when she moved so I asked him if he felt it and he looked up at me and his eyes bugged out. It was adorable.

Oh! And we scheduled my csection. May 5 is the official day!

3. Questions for the group? - Has anyone here used the wireless pumps? Willow and... I can’t remember the other one. Anyway. My insurance will reimburse up to $450 for a pump and I haaaaaaated my Medela. I think I just hated feeling tethered to one spot. It was awful. So if they’re any good, I’ll get the wireless ones instead.

4. If you could splurge on one $$ baby related item what would it be? - I’d get a Snoo. I’m still considering renting one.

killercupcake the moms who have a willow or elvie in my mom’s group aren’t a huge fan. It can take longer to produce less. They prefer the spectra.

killercupcake - I had the medela freestyle with DS and liked that it was portable. I exclusively pumped with him and found it worked well. I got the new version of the freestyle this time. It's smaller, quieter but actually has a bigger motor so should be more portable.

Vent- I've been sleeping like shit, which is extra frustrating when I'm on the verge of falling asleep at work all day.

4. If you could splurge on one $$ baby related item what would it be? I fell in love with an extremely unnecessary and expensive pottery barn crib and dresser set. We actually might still get it although it’s sort of insane.

But honestly her nursery is kind of ugly and we have been preparing for this baby for literally FOUR YEARS so I feel like if we want a stupid nice nursery set we deserve it. Also she (unknowingly) bought the same crib for her daughter that I’ve been wanting for literally years and it kind of took the wind out of my sails even though it’s literally $600+ cheaper than this one. 😂

Buy it! I was stupid in most of my baby purchases with DS, as in paid $2k for his stroller and then bought a $600 travel stroller and outfitted most of his nursery from Pottery Barn but whatever. After so many years of struggling to conceive and carry a healthy pregnancy, you deserve it!!

DS's crib is still in perfect condition, its definitely not true that all kids ruin everything. The crib has been moved from his nursery now (and replaced with a pottery barn bed-frame lol). I got judgement on MM Moms & ML from a few people for spending what we did on the stroller & bed but who cares.

My animal of a 2 year old has not destroyed either his new RH stuff or the Amish-made super expensive stuff my ILs bought for the nursery. And he is a firecracker. He saves his destruction for things like getting crumbs all over the carpet, as I think most kids do. I think bedroom furniture will typically be safe since they’re mostly either sleeping or in there with you. You deserve it, if you love it I said get it!!

seeyalater52, go buckwild! I knew DD was my last and went as wild as my budget would allow. Crib and recliner and stuff like that are all in great shape still. The biggest casualties have been books and a few outfits (and of course our floors are a crumby mess).

BUT
If the crib is one of those ones that becomes a toddler bed and then becomes the bedframe/headboard/footboard combo?  Buy that shit immediately.  We have that for my daughter, it was sturdy as all hell in the crib days, and she will use that damned thing until she leaves for college.

DD’s bedroom furniture is PB kids. Crib was $650 (a gift from my mom) and the dresser was $750 (we purchased it). Dd just turned 3 yesterday and it still looks brand new! I guess it depends on your kid, but I’d get what you want.

ETA: I take that back....it looks like the 3 drawer dresser is over $700 and we have the 6 drawer, so clearly we spent way more than I remember. (Our set is no longer offered.) No regrets.
