So RNR finally made an announcement and they're calling the DC race postponed, not cancelled.
But who knows when it'll happen. Or how much notice we'll have once they pick the new date.
How would you handle training? I have a 70.3 in October. No big running events leading up to that, just two Oly Tris late in the summer. Next planned event is a century in May, which if it is canceled we'll just ride on our own.
So... basically what long run mileage would you bounce around with if you're just trying to hold a half marathon base such that you could run one with like...3 weeks warning? It's reasonable to just hang out at a 8-10 mile long run, right? That would work?

A big race like RNR will need a lot more than 3 weeks notice before rescheduling. They need to get permits, close roads, get help from police, secure an expo site, get volunteers, etc. It’s a big endeavor. But generally, I think an 8-10 mile long run base is good.
I assume all of my spring races will be canceled. There’s a possibility the ones in late April and early May will go on, but I’m not counting on it. I don’t know what to do other than run for fun and stress relief, and look ahead to fall races.
Ugh I was just thinking about this, especially since Boston was just postponed. I have a couple of 10-mile races in the next 3 weeks that I’m betting won’t happen. My marathon is mid-June though, so fingers crossed that one will be okay!
I was training for Boston and I am going to go back to my normal 10 mile weekend run tomorrow. I'll maintain this level for 2-3 months and then up the training again.
It seems like a lot of smaller races here are happening this weekend but those next week and 2-3 weeks out are being cancelled. We have had a HM cancelled for this weekend.
I can't train for anything other than napping, so *shrug.*
Wah wah, in the sameish boat. I am in the final days of training for a marathon (3/29) and it was just cancelled. I talked to my coach and I will plan for one in late August, and need to figure out how to keep up my fitness over the spring/summer.
I’ve had so much fun with the speed work that I’m excited to make it part of normal running.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

I am not confident in their communication since it took pretty long to email participants after the mayor pulled their permit. (Compared to how quickly other messages were getting out) So I was planning for a scenario where they're getting their many logistical ducks in a row and leave telling is the new date till the last minute.
But now that they're saying fall specifically, there's more certainty that it's not like.... June. Not that this is going to be over by June...
I think your 8-10 plan is fine, I just can’t imagine them being able to reschedule a race of that size. Frederick half is still on, as of now, for May but I forsee that getting cancelled.

Great example of reframing! That’s such a positive spin. Sorry your event was cancelled.

My coach told me to take a few weeks off and just run what I want to ( but don't stop running completely), then to keep up with 10 miles before ramping up for training again. Seems like our plans are similar!
