I’ve been to a couple of stores in the past two days and it seems chicken is the big seller, it’s all gone. Wish I had gotten some earlier, I eat a lot of chicken.
I was also surprised to see the flour shelves empty. I guess people want to bake if they're stuck at home.
I have to make a trip to get some Betty Crocker boxes and icing. I could make snacks and have it last a week or more just so I don’t have to go out. I just hope there is stuff left. Lots of snacks like chips and salsa were out yesterday but am sure it’s been restocked.
It’s day 3 and I’m almost out of AP flour. A wee bit of bread flour, and a ton of white lily. Guess I’ll be making buiscuits be next weekend, instead of yeast breads.

Reassuringly, it sounds like the food supply chain is holding -- it's a matter of ramping up distribution/restocking to meet the new level of demand, I guess?
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that there were food shortages in the countries that have been hit hard. Times when one thing or another were in short supply, yes. Limitations on how often people can go out to buy food, yes. Food deliveries in order to keep people from having to go out, yes. But my impression is that food is available, it's a matter of getting it to people safely.
Even my little, local grocery store is keeping up pretty well, all things considered. I see kind of scary pictures in local FB groups of lots of empty shelves, and when I have been over there, things are usually restocked. I mean, the TP aisle is still bare, but most of the food and produce that is being snapped up does get replaced at a pretty good clip.
I just talked to my mom, who's in FL and went shopping today. She said her local Publix has been almost completely cleaned out except for the hardware aisle. She went to Target instead and it was pretty quiet when she went, but the cashier told her that people are following Target trucks off the nearest highway to see which store they're going to, and asking the driver if he has TP in his delivery. The store apparently began distributing it straight off the truck to people waiting in line in the parking lot and limiting them to two packages, and people were pissed off at the limitation. OMG.

I stocked up on flour and yeast because am going to try to finally be successful at making yeast bread. It comes out cruddy usually but it is because I am trying to cram making it into an already full day. Hoping working from home will make me less impatient in the rises. #OperationYeastBread starts on Wednesday.
Millions of parents are about to have school aged children with at-home learning. And many of them are scrambling to buy Chrome books, if they can afford them. And it’s possible that grants/community funding will pay for them in under-resourced areas.

I am all set! I have 300+ pounds of flour! (I stocked up because Costco sometimes discontinues the flour I like and then I was in a car accident so I've not used any of it. And at the rate it's going who knows when the food truck/party/wedding industry will be back in the swing.)
Let’s just hope it’s not cash! Friend said her uncle went to the bank and was denied getting a large sum of cash out until next week. I don’t know how much but all of us are like eeeekkkkkk.
Vinegar. It’s such a good all around multi purpose thing.Cleaner, veggie and fruit wash, disinfectant, etc. We usually have a gallon or two but are out (because most soap supply is dwindling and forget sanitizer)
Both my Safeway and Amazon are out, no store can deliver to my area before 3-4 days at this point) No clue if there are any at any other store, but interesting it’s out. It’s a nice staple to have on hand.

If anyone can point me to some Diet Dr Pepper that I can order online for pickup or delivery I would be eternally grateful because shit will get real in the Taylor house if I don’t have some damn Diet Dr. Pepper.

I read an article today and it said that vinegar does not kill the virus. Just an FYI if you didn't see it. I'll see if I can find a link.

My Mom strongly suggested stocking up on canned and frozen fruit. She said this virus is going to hit South and Central America hard and we’re going to see supply chains for a lot of fruit collapse unless of they are local and in season. So I guess we will stock up on some of that.
We got a pizza for lunch today from a local joint. It was very quiet. Ugh. They said they are in good shape for the restaurant ban because they are set-up for take-out. But there is now a run on take-out supplies and shortages for take-out containers. Ugh.

Costco grocery (same or 2 day delivery) online had it earlier today.

All the thermometers were gone at the Walgreens near our house.
I just got the last one at my target today. I’ve been looking for more than a week. I stopped at a hospital pharmacy and they gave me 3 disposable one-use ones but then I kept looking and finally found one today. I was so thrilled I also bought blue nail polish to celebrate!
I also stocked up on doggy pee pads. I’ve started only taking my dog out first thing and last thing because with so many people wfh there’s always people in the lobby and the elevator buttons and door pulls freak me out. Stay in your apartments, people!

We are fortunate enough to grow a lot of our own summer produce, but I'm seriously considering getting meat chickens. And maybe buying our usual 1/2 cow a little early.
Oddly, my local store is out of first aid and skin cleansers. Betadine, hibiclens and the like. I have some impetigo and can't find hibiclens to clean and treat it.
