The 50k is still on as of now. It’s the last weekend in March. It’s trail. I do not need to travel (no hotels or stops) to get there.
There are longer distances starting one morning and then evening, and then my distance would start the following morning. IF everyone who signed up shows it is less than 140 people. Thats The total for ALL start times combined. However I think Some will not show not only due to regular DNS’s, but also some will not show bc they have or had the virus by then, or they want to avoid travel, or avoid the virus all together. They are 6-8 mile loops. Plus volunteers.
They would have food and rules in place (anything not in individual packages would be served to runners instead of the way they are typically out in bowls for us to grab.) No touching any runners, bring your own hand sanitizer, and no runner can handle water nozzles....BUT, I can self-support from my car, and i would. So I would bring my own water, Coke in a cooler, soup in a thermos, and food. The car would not be out of the way of the run.
The tent is the major hub and while timing occurs inside, they said you can remain outside and yell and they will confirm you each loop.
While all of this makes it sounds like I want to, I’m simply stating what their plan is as of now. I really would not be upset if I missed it, either.
I’d keep reassessing. We had a small local race, no more than 250 for all distances, go on this weekend. It made me pretty nervous for friends who ran it and volunteered, but it was the same with food precautions, etc. I have friends who I’ve been training with who were doing a 50 on April 5th, and they’re (3) still planning to run the course. I am considering running the first half with them, as it’s on road, but will wait until that week to decide. We’d self support, of course.

Maybe? I lean towards yes right now, but that could change. This could not happen here in MA, as we just got a ban for gatherings of more than 25 people.

I would think it will get shut down...I just saw the latest CDC recommendation came out as cancelling gathering of 50 or more. Someone just posted it to the RD and some people (not RD) said it’s not really a gathering since people would be spread out over miles.
Edit: Ok it’s cancelled. Whew! End decision making!

My running club put our weekly Wed night runs on hold for now, and someone said the same thing... he said it isn't like we are running and holding hands.
