I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad about the timing. I hate having to make a large item purchase in this uncertainty, but we luckily both have stable jobs and cash built up, so hopefully we can find something with a good price.
Our washing machine is.. making some really unfortunate noises. Not sure it's going to make it. Best I can tell from the serial numbers, it's at least 17 years old, so I'm not inclined to get it repaired.
Any recommendations? We currently have a front loader that's got mold issues (which we never had with a newer model Samsung in the old house - we leave it ). I don't even know if it's possible, but if we could get one that vents to the right rather than behind, that would be ideal.
ETA: We also have both gas and electric as an option.

Nobody I know who has had the combo washer and dryer is happy, so avoid those.
I have a whirlpool cabrio (which conveyed with my house) and can’t wait for it to die. It’s horrific. 85 minute loads and things still come out not clean enough for my liking. I would never buy another whirlpool again as a result of this particular washer.
We got LG because about every review site said LG.
We went with these and bought yesterday. Prices went up $300 today, so I'm happy with the decision, but we won't get them for a couple weeks. And it was shockingly our dryer that bit the dust first and no longer produces heat, so hopefully it holds out until then...
Our laundry room is very narrow and these are 3" deeper than what we had, so we are hoping shifting everything down away from the doorway isn't an issue, otherwise we'll need to shell out $$$ to have gas and water lines moved so we can put them in a different location in the room. Fingers crossed...
