As a police officer I don't have a recommendation on a brand, but please remember to follow local, state, or what you fall under laws and safety recommendations for child safety seats. I often see people who didn't and were in violation.

I work for my cities fire department, so I'm definitely on board with that
Infant - Graco SnugRide (both kids used the same one). It was economical and did the job just fine.
Convertible - DD used Graco Extend2Fits in both cars. We are going to reinstall one (that has a rapid remove cover) in one car for DS, but the other (which doesn't have a rapid remove cover, and suffered some fraying of the cushion in the wash) we're not.
We bought DS a Clek Fllo to replace the one Extend2Fit. We haven't used it much yet, he is 10m, and shortly after we installed it we went on lockdown and barely drive anywhere. But I have to say the install we got is SOLID. Better than any seat in any car we've used in the past.
I am not a big Extend2Fit fan and wouldn't buy one again (obviously, since I didn't). We had a ridiculously hard time with tightening the harnesses. When RFing I guess it's ok because you have access to the back of the seat to tighten down before subsequently pulling the crotch strap. But when FFing, that doesn't work because the back of the seat is against the actual car's seat. Neither of ours tightened like they should just by pulling the crotch strap (ever, in a couple years of use), and I've read lots of complaints online and on GBCN of the same thing. Although extended RFing is great, I want a convertible seat that I can actually functionally convert to FFing when it's time. They're also very wide, which didn't matter with DD (she was an only child) but now I don't want in our road trip car with 2 kids because I want to be able to fit between the two kids' car seats when necessary.
The Clek Fllo is pretty pricey, but the install was great. The straps adjust really smoothly. It's really narrow. I got a sale color from Albee Baby to save a little $$$, since Clek is excluded from BBB coupons.
The other seats we considered were Chicco Nextfit and Fit4, since we really like the Chicco MyFit harness to HBB that we have for DD (now 4). We took the car it was going into to BBB to try them out. The Nextfit is really nicely compact front to back, good for tall front seat passengers. But the sides are so damn high, it would've been a constant PITA to get (especially a RFing baby) in and out. The Fit4 was just a monster of a seat. So, so big. And the all in one idea is efficient, but I actually don't mind getting a new seat every few years. Car seats get so gross!
We got a graco headwise for DS and skipped the infant seat entirely. It's for 4-65 lbs. He was 5 lb 7 oz when we brought him home from the hospital and it worked just fine. It has to be air dried when washed. DS was a spit up kid and now gets car sick so not super awesome that you can't use the dryer. This past Oct (when DS was 3.5) we purchased the graco tranzions 3-1 booster. He uses it with a 5 point harness.
We got the Nuna Pipa. I loved the Nuna Mixx stroller and only a select few car seats can go with it. Since the car seat was highly rated, that's what we got.
