I’m job hunting again (thanks Covid). I’ve had recruiters reach out to me pretty often, particularly over the past year via email and on linked in. I had no intention of switching jobs, so I hadn’t been responding to them. Word must have already spread about my company’s layoffs. Do you typically send your info out to multiple recruiters if you are a job seeker? Any advice you can share if you’ve worked with recruiters? Most are specific to my industry, although not all are located in my area (which may be due to me not listing my specific location on linked in).
Ugh, I'm sorry and I hope you find something good soon.
Yes, you can reach out to multiple recruiters. Recruiters are generally hired by employers to fill openings, so they'll vet you as a match for openings they're working to fill, but they aren't going to search for openings on your behalf. There's no expectation of exclusivity on your end.

ellipses84 Good luck. Mr. P will likely be looking again too. When in the active looking process, he's worked with up to 3 recruiting companies. Are you still in his industry? For some reason, I thought you switched? I am so sorry. This totally sucks.

Thanks! I’m in a different industry, but my industry services his industry, which was a big market for us where you are at.
You can work with several recruiters. I am not a recruiter, but I personally think it’s good etiquette to let them know that you are working with other recruiters or exploring multiple opportunities. In my experience, they usually ask.
