I currently have an IUD to help with the pain of severe endometriosis. It’s been a life changer and I haven’t had a period in 4 years. I am exploring options for getting pregnant and met with an RE. She wants to test my FSH and thyroid to start. I know that FSH is typically done on cycle day 3 but I have no idea where I am in my cycle because I don’t get a period. She said it would be ok to have this tested anytime.
I can’t risk just taking out the IUD out and having tests done over the course of a few months because the pain is so severe; I wanted to get as much testing as possible done before removing the IUD just so I could make an semi informed decision about getting pregnant, what that might entail, etc.
My research tells me FSH levels can vary depending on when you get the test. The RE I met with is very well respected in her field at a world renowned medical center. I’m just wondering if the FSH would be worth doing if it might not be accurate.
Does anyone have experience with this? The next test is a HSG which I believe can be done with the IUD no problem.

I would get your AMH tested as well. Usually that’s done on day 3 of your cycle.
I have never heard of getting testing done or hsg with an IUD in. Not to say it can’t be done but we had to be off all BC. (I have bad endo too so I get it). But you could get testing done on day 3, and then HSG same cycle, usually day 7-10 I think? Then start treatment next cycle

You can get FSH and other bloodwork done while you’re on some IUDs. Apparently some people go through the whole testing and IVF stims for egg donation while on an IUD! I’d trust your doctor.
