This class is all Billy Joel music so I love it: 30 min Low Impact Ride, Hannah Marie Corbin, Fri 10/19/18 @ 9:30 AM. I don't know how to link to a specific class so search for her class at that day/time.
There is a "collection" under the classes tab called "Welcome to peloton cycling" that i'd recommend if you're truly a beginner. They're all 20 min beginner rides with different instructors. If you find they're too easy for you, move up to a 30 min ride but I feel like it's best to start slow if you're not used to the intensity.
Oh, also - Any of the low impact rides are good to start with as well. They're all "in the saddle" so there's no riding while standing, which can be difficult for people not familiar with the bike yet. I do a 45 min low impact ride every week as a reset. They're good rides to do, regardless of ability.

Yes, I think this is what I did. There may have even been some 15 minute rides. It was a great introduction to all of the instructors. I felt more capable than their suggested schedule, so I rode straight through rather than 4 days of riding plus a day of stretching.
Good luck and have fun! I also ride with the app and a LeMond. I haven’t ever regretted doing it that way. 😊

I started with beginner rides and tried out different instructors, then moved to low impact and some of the music rides. I hurt my back recently and am back at low impact rides!
Just have fun, if you can't keep up in the beginning, just try to modify.
Clearly I can't stay out of this thread, lol. One other thing I would mention is that if the leader board makes you feel bad or gets in your head (you're not as high of a ranking as you'd want to be, your rank is moving down instead of up, etc...) GET RID OF IT. Hide that shit. A lot of the instructors will tell you the same thing.
I usually only check the leader board once or twice during a ride, and then at the end when I finish. I cannot watch my rank throughout the ride or it messes with my performance and I get in own head about it.
A lot of people find it motivating (I wish I was one of them!). I find in anxiety producing and sometimes counter-productive.
ETA: Maybe the app doesn't have the leader board? If not, then ignore me!
I did Sam’s most recent 15 min low impact ride today because I hurt my knee. It was really straightforward and overall lower on resistance, so I think it would be great for a beginner. All in saddle.

Bookmarking, as I don't think we're going to the gym any time soon (probably not even when they open back up, we discussed canceling our membership), and we have one on order. Doesn't arrive for over a month, but still want some ideas of how not to break myself starting out.

There are rides marked beginner. I started with those for about a week and a half then moved on to 30 minute rides. It was a good way to learn all the lingo and figure out resistance and cadence. I’m a fan of Kendall, Cody and Hannah Ann Corbin as instructors.

If you can get ahold of the delivery company number (it wasn’t the one in my confirmation email, a friend gave it to me) call and see if you can get your delivery date moved up. Mine was able to move it up 8 days.

the Facebook groups are saying that they recently stopped offering this.
I’m starting with the Welcome to Peloton series. I’ve done two of the rides and I think they’re a great starting point! After this, I’ll probably filter by beginner rides and sort by popularity and go from there.

I appreciate the heads up, but it's ok. I'm kind of intimidated by the whole thing, and I'm sure they're swamped with orders, so I'm good to wait.
I will just say this, as an instructor, remember that you are always in control of your ride. WE are there to lead you through it and set the challenge for you, but ultimately you have the control to turn it up or down and the more you start riding, the stronger your legs become, the more you will be able to do without even realizing it.
Know that your tush will be sore for the first couple of weeks, but that it will get better. If you are bouncing in the saddle during a sprint or seated flat, add more tension. it should not feel like you have hit a cobble stone road. And lastly, do not be afraid of the tension on the fly wheel. I think this is what scares people, but that is what keeps you safe (for instance you need something there when sprinting or the wheel will get away from your control which is bad and you need it when in a standing climb to safely support you) and it is what will get you the results you are seeking. So, embrace the resistance and enjoy riding!
