Our siding is Boothbay Blue fiber cement (Hardie board), and our trim is white. We have a patio made of gray stone pavers and want to install a sail shade on the side of the house, extended out to a couple poles we'll install in the lawn.
We think white will show to much grime, so I'm leaning toward gray, and my husband is thinking brown. He thinks brown is a better contrast, whereas I think it means introducing another color unnecessarily.
Out of those choices, with your colors, I would go with gray for sure! I feel like brown would be weird.
FYI Costco often has things like this in spring for a great price, if you do Costco. Not sure what they have this year as I haven't been there for over a month due to Covid.
I'm going to see if the red is a true red, as we have red doors, and I'd love the pop of color, but not if it's at all orangey. If that's a bust, gray it is.
I like the red. A pop of color would be great back there and I don't think it needs to match the doors. You can't see much of the door color behind that screen door anyways.
I like the red idea, too, especially with the red door! The red in the item listing did look orangey, though. I had also thought yellow would be fun and cheery but it wasn't offered.
Thanks, all. I agree the pavers don't look as gray in the pics as they do in real life.
We went with the gray, because neither of us really wants orange (less because of the doors and more because we just don't love orange), and my H thinks even a very red one will fade to a color he doesn't like with time.
We do need some color, though, so I'm planning to hang bright plants from the pole we use for the shade. Maybe some pillows on the patio set, too.
