I'll be posting updates on my blog as we've now gotten quotes for tree removal (including stump grinding) and we're waiting for our back garden quote for laying fake grass and putting up and filling a rectangular raised bed (about 12 ft x 2 ft x something height-wise that I can't remember). 

I'm shocked but my H did not bat an eye at the tree removal quote (we have 3 ash trees - one which is slightly higher than our 3 story house and 2 which are about 2-1/2 stories tall). I'd say the price for London wasn't as bad as I thought either.

I hope the quote for the raised beds aren't too much more than my H can handle as I'd really, really like them for longer term planting with a dog (and as I get older, not having to bend too much).

Yup. As predicted, my H is not happy with the quote, so moving the trees from the front of the house and doing the raised beds will not happen this year. I'll see what his quote is for laying the fake lawn and putting down a few more patio stones (for the future pizza oven).
