my cat figured out how to open the door

:-( My cat can now open the door to our apartment that goes out to the hallway. I've got to find something to put on the handle. He showed us tonight that he can get into the hallway on his own. We have a door handle that is long, not round. Any suggestions? Good thing I have the day off tomorrow...

I guess these exist. I haven't seen one in use to know how it works, but for $5 try it before you buy a new knob.
