We just got a treadmill today. We are inexperienced and it’s the first fitness equipment we’ve owned. We were planning on putting it in the basement but couldn’t get it down there, so it’s in the spare bedroom on carpet. I know we need a mat, but there are so many different types. I’ve been reading recommendations, but thought I’d ask if anyone had personal recommendations.
And probably an irrational question, but can the movement/impact and weight of running on the main floor of the house damage the structure of the house? I’m guessing no because people put treadmills in their bedrooms all the time, but I was surprised at how much the floor shook when average-sized DH ran on it.

tripleshot Maybe, but it depends on a lot of factors like the age of our house and how it was built. Its hard tos say, but I wouldn't completely dismiss your concern. (I am not a structural engineer, but in a related field.)
Our treadmill is in our basement, so concrete on grade and it still shakes the house a little when someone is on it.

Thanks. Our house was built in 2012 and seems well built. I’m a worrier though.
