we are about to put our rental house on the market to sell. My project for this weekend is the back yard. I have a could Adirondack chairs that will go by the fire pit. The small porch is getting a wicket chair. And there is a small patio where I plan to put this table and chairs. They *almost* go together, but chrome and ugly steel.
so how would you make these work? Paint the table legs and then the chrome on the chairs? That might work if I sanded down the chrome. I was originally thinking I’d paint the wood on the chairs and the legs of the table, but now seeing it, I’m not sure that’s the best plan. Other ideas?
ive got white, blue, and burgundy paint. I could go get one of the hammered finishes for the table legs?
we don’t live in the house, and everything we are working with is free. I don’t want to spend more than a few cans of spray paint.
Oh god do not paint those chrome chairs. Anything you put on them will flake off in a matter of uses and it would take so much effort to tape off all the wood slats.
I’m with mrsukyankee. Leave it be. Outdoor staging isn’t that important and won’t make or break your home sale. When we sold our house in March last year we had a straight up stacked pile of furniture against one fence, two feet of snow in the backyard, and a promise to put down grass seed in the listing since there was literally nothing in the backyard but dirt as we had ripped out the pool in the fall. It still sold!
If you feel you truly must do something, paint the table legs black. Black and chrome go together just fine and no one would think twice about it.
Put an outdoor candle or a pot of flowers in the center and call it a day. The conflicting finishes won’t be a big deal, it’s more about the space/use you are showing.
I agree with everyone else, I don't think you need to do anything to those pieces. (1) I don't think it looks bad as-is, and (2) it's really not going to be a factor in getting the house sold.
Well, at the end of the day, I left them as is. I also discovered my patio isn’t as big as I remembered, so it takes a large chunk. I may not leave it there anyway. Might move to the basement or something. I also ran out of spray paint for my Adirondack chair/fire pit project. But oh well. Here’s a few pictures as a reward for reading.
Oh, I meant to post the collage with the hammock in it. Oh well, there is now a hammock set up back there too. Trying to make the back yard look like a good place to hang out (thanks covid).
