Ah, of course the article makes it sound like all the violence is the protester's fault.
I was at the Barclay's protest: nothing started until the cops started beating people down with batons and pepper spraying. There were a number of plain clothes cops in the crowd inciting fights, too.
MINNESOTA ATTORNEY GENERAL SUGGESTS AUTO ZONE RIOT STARTER WAS ‘PROVOCATEUR’
Umbrella man. This has been going around, rumor mill said it was a ST Paul police officer- no proof and SPPD quashed it too.
ETA- I have seen video. Many people tried to stop him too. I *think* the Autozone was the first fire on lake street. So much destruction, I have forgot the order.
But that’s the whole point of all of this. They.do.not.care.
The bad apples in police uniforms (because I know not all officers are malicious racists and bullies, but clearly some are) have learned that they can do whatever they want with essentially no risk for consequences. It doesn’t matter if they’re filmed. It doesn’t matter if they murder a black citizen who is unarmed with their hands up. They know there won’t be consequences for them. They know the system and their badge will protect them.
THAT is a huge part of what needs to change.
And then, on top of all that, we have a person in the Oval Office who calls the press the enemy of the people. I’m not surprised in the least that that police officer looked directly at the camera and shot the pepper bullets (or whatever they were, thank god it wasn’t live ammunition). But I continue to be disgusted.
I'm seeing a lot of reports on twitter (so taken with a grain of salt) of violent white people coming in and making things worse.
I don’t have anything in hand right now to back this up, but as I was scrolling videos and photos of the damage and looting in Atlanta on Twitter last night, there were quite a few white people involved.
Thanks for your expert input! Also, technically anyone can potentially have intoxicants and only an autopsy would show so why mention that? Is that in every preliminary finding? I don’t think there’s been anything to indicate he was on anything so to say potential intoxicants just plants it in the readers head intoxicants, then it becomes the narrative. I don’t know if I’m explaining what I mean correctly.
It's not usual to be mentioned like that, but I do recall hearing that the 911 caller mentioned he seemed altered or intoxicated. But how much of that is true, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Where I trained, toxicology was conducted on all homicides. So in a sense, it's not out of the norm for them to be testing him.
Thank you. What I meant was is it listed in every autopsy prelim that the deceased potentially has intoxicants?
I feel like I can’t stop reading about this and never saw anything about intoxicants so I’m going to go do more research. How could I have missed that. All I’ve read is he was like the picture of health? Hm.

Stop. You don’t need to do more research. It doesn’t fucking matter if he was high or drunk or sober. It’s just another way to try to excuse what that fucking murderous cop did! He fucking knelt on him for almost 9 minutes while people pleaded and screamed for him to stop! Don’t continue to push the false narrative that always gets trotted out every fucking time!
I’m just waking up and catching up. I needed to stop watching the coverage and go to bed last night.
My friend in the National Guard has been at the armory for more than 50+ hours on two hours of sleep, with no end in sight. They are mobilizing another 1000+ NG to Mpls, making it the largest NG deployment in MN history.

I’m saying the opposite!!? I meant research into where it was saying on the call he was high. That saying he potentially had intoxicants Is bullshit unless every prelim says that. Are you high? I have not seen anything saying he had intoxicants and I feel I’ve been reading a lot. So that is why I am like ?? About potential intoxicants. Don’t be an asshole. It’s not cute.

Is this what your looking for?
“Um, someone comes our store and give us fake bills, and we realize it before he left the store,” the caller said, according to a transcript released by the authorities, “and we ran back outside, they was sitting on their car.” The store clerk demanded the cigarettes back. “But he doesn’t want to do that, and he’s sitting on his car ‘cause he is awfully drunk and he’s not in control of himself,” the clerk said, according to a transcript of the call to police. “He is not acting right.”

I'm trying to find an actual news link, and not just twitter, but I am reading many accounts of the violence being started by people from outside the state. St. Paul mayor in a presser is saying the arrests they've made there are of people from out of state.
There is only this one report that’s getting passed around. I’m not sure what to make of it. At first I thought maybe it was just one very petite national guard person, but then again the others look young too.
One person (age 19) was killed in downtown Detroit after someone in an SUV fired shots into a crowd of people protesting George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis custody, a Detroit police spokeswoman said Saturday.
Mpls- where are the police? Where is the national guard! They are now going after the 5th precinct.
Would you rather there be violent clashes between the police and protestors, leading to more death, instead of just property destruction?
They were unprepared. They saw what happened the night before. The NG and police should have had a presence. They didn't. The riots were without officers around- looting post office, a battered women's shelter was evacuated, bomb threats are happening. This is beyond a life vs property destruction.

If I misunderstood the intention of your post than I apologize. But I’m tired of seeing this kind of armchair detective work getting trotted out every fucking time someone is murdered on the streets. I’m not directing this exclusively to you but to every individual who perpetuates the narrative that there may have been “some reason” that the victims are murdered. There is no just cause to murder on the street by civilians or police officers. It’s a tiresome narrative that needs to stop being repeated. Again I understand if that’s not what you were trying to do. Also don’t be flippant either. None of this is fucking cute. No one is trying to be cute here. I’m fucking angry that this country and its institutions are so institutionally fucked up that it took days of protests to have an arrest made and that’s not even enough. Where are the arrests for the other officers complicit in this crime. It’s all a sham and my heart is heavy and I’m angry.

In Kentucky the governor has ordered the national guard to Louisville for tonight. Can someone help me understand the repercussions of this move? Is it likely to help or hurt?
What I’m hearing (and the governor said this in his announcement too) is that the local groups have all had peaceful protests and then groups are being bused in and then those people are sparking violence. What’s NOT clear to me is who is being bussed in and from where? Are they social justice groups from in state or surrounding areas that are coming in to protest and are getting blamed or are they, like, white nationalist groups that are coming in to intentionally cause chaos? Or is the whole “outsiders are causing violence” thing not happening?
There is only this one report that’s getting passed around. I’m not sure what to make of it. At first I thought maybe it was just one very petite national guard person, but then again the others look young too.
I haven't seen this anywhere else either, but if it is right I am pretty horrified, and confused.

This person is saying they are just short. But who knows.
I'm sorry to post a Twitter thread but it's from Joy Ann Reid summarizing the press conference this morning, no article yet.
BicycleBride this Joy Ann Reid tweet may relate to what you are asking in regards to out of towners being bused in
Eta: CNN article mentioning some of the same. "Assertions about outside agitators come partly from data about who has been arrested, as well as information from fliers and online postings, state public safety commissioner John Harrington said. He said he hopes to release supporting information later Saturday." www.cnn.com/2020/05/30/us/george-floyd-protests-saturday/index.html
Yeah, you know, it took me a while to start questioning why protestors were breaking the glass windows and doors at the CNN center in Atlanta. I was all "This makes NO sense" until I started reading Twitter.
