Our house came with all brand new Samsung kitchen appliances. The fridge started doing the freezing thing everyone complains about, we replaced with a GE, but everything else has been fine and we like them 🤷🏼♀️. I have by far heard the most complaints to about the fridges.
2019 was the year we replaced every kitchen appliance because our Samsung fridge also failed. (Our stove was 40 years old so I can't blame anyone for having to replace that!)
My parents have these and love them. They have two separated in the kitchen, vs stacked on top. Its so nice, there's always an empty dishwasher and no bending down. My only complaint about them, is I don't think they hold that much, no big pots and you have to load strategically. My parents disagree though (and they entertain often).
This is what I have and I love them. But it’s true that they don’t hold a lot. I have them because they came with my house. My friend is an appliance technician and says they are the worst and dreads the day I have problems. But I absolutely love the drawers.
We have this exact dishwasher. We just got it a few months ago after our a whirlpool flooded the basement. Good times. I don’t have strong feelings of adulation - but it’s def the best dishwasher we’ve ever had though.
Pros: Super quiet Very clean dishes that dry well Neat top rack for things like kitchen knives and spatulas
Cons: The rack configuration is smaller and less convenient Long cycles (this may be true of all newer dishwashers, IDK)
We’ve replaced quiet a few dishwashers bc of our rentals and renovating kitchens in two of our primary homes so we tried lots of brands. So far we’re happy
We have a thermador and it’s awful. My cousin has a Bosch and loves it.
That’s odd because Thermador is owned by Bosch and the dishwashers are supposed to be made pretty much the same. We just ordered all Thermador appliances for our remodel. Hopefully our dishwasher doesn’t suck.
In every 'recommend your appliance' post I urge people to buy appliances from an actual appliance store, not a big box store.
The customer service is better, staff is knowledgeable, and the appliances are better quality than the big box store versions. Big box stores demand huge discounts, so manufacturers use cheaper parts.

We have them and love them. We had them at our old house too. We don't wash pots and pans in the dishwasher, so that isn't an issue for us.
DH often tries to load things that I think are just easier to wash by hand, like a large mixing bowl, but we've figured out how to strategically load and fit a lot in it.

There is no difference in quality between stores for the same model. That is a myth.
The benefit of buying from an appliance store is knowledge and after-sales service. Appliance stores generally have their own service staff if something goes wrong. Big box stores typically have the item shipped directly from the manufacturer and provide zero service once it’s delivered, you have to go to the manufacturer directly for any service or warranty issues.
Appliance stores can usually deliver more quickly too, which is helpful if you have an urgent need due to a non-functioning fridge or something. We bought a fridge last year and the same model was sold everywhere for almost the same price. Costco was the cheapest, because that same price included delivery and haul away of our old fridge. We bought from a local appliance store because they could deliver the next day vs waiting a week or more from Costco.
ETA- some stores have models that are only sold in those stores but if the model number is the same, the item is the same.
I was told this by someone that I trust, who has knowledge and experience but no benefit from either place, and by a couple of repairmen who are authorized by appliance brands and have no store connections.
When we looked for appliances, (maybe 10 yrs ago?) we compared model numbers from the appliance store and lowes ( I was thinking lowes and home depot when I said big box stores) and noticed added numbers or letters to models that appeared to be the same, but weren't exactly the same. On one same model of washer, the control knobs were different... the one at lowes looked similar but was lighter weight. If they did that with knobs, why would I expect them to not do that with things that you don't see?
It seemed like it was like the faucets...the ones from Lowes and HD cost the same or close to the same as the same brand, but they weigh a lot less because they have plastic innards instead of brass.
Are all name-brand products sold at big-box stores the same as those sold at dealers? Published: October 19, 2014 08:00 AM
Q. I keep hearing that a name-brand product purchased at a big-box store (i.e., Lowe’s, Home Depot) is slightly different from one you may purchase at a local dealer, even if it is represented as being the same model. Is this true?—Herb Schulken, Pawleys Island, SC
A. It’s an urban legend. For example, the John Deere 100 Series riding mowers sold at Home Depot is exactly the same as what you get from any other dealer, despite news reports and blog posts that say the Home Depot line is inferior. One exception: When a big-box store sells a relatively similar product under its own brand name—Sears Craftsman and Kenmore brands, for example—the store often pays manufacturers to include extra features or other, usually small, details.

We also have a drawer dishwasher, it came with the house we bought 5 months ago. We have had the appliance repair guy here twice already and he said the same - that the drawers are WAY more finicky than normal dishwashers. There are certain aspects of them that I like and we have learned some things about making ours work better, but overall, we will go back to a normal dishwasher when this one needs to be replaced.
