I'm planning to paint my split-level foyer, which has a 16' ceiling. I would really love to not have to either go up and down a ladder constantly, or swing around a telescoped roller and sling paint everywhere. Wondering if any of you have used something like what I linked above, or, do you have other ideas for how to efficiently paint a space like this?
I can't imagine that the one you've linked would be easy to roll since you're putting so much paint in the roller. Seems like it would be heavy and awkward.
I will say that I haven't painted anything taller than 8' with the one I shared either. I think you'd want some form of scaffolding to do the cutting in.
I have used something similar before. I was not a fan. The paint distribution wasn't even and I ended up using a LOT more paint than I would have with a normal roller. And like PP mentioned above, it's heavy. Imagine trying to lift a pint or more of paint on the end of a long roller. No fun.
My sister is the painting queen.. she enjoys it, which is weird. She's had three houses now with two story high walls int he living room and repainted them all. I asked her for tips, since we need to paint the area over the stairwell, and she uses one of these for edging in, and dealt with the telescoping handle.
(I will.. not be painting over our stairwell. I can acknowledge my weaknesses, and this is something that will be hired out.. eventually.)

I've only ever used a paint tray where you can put paint in and roll the roller in the tray. You don't have to go up and down the steps with every application but you still have to fill it up regularly and make sure it doesn't fall off the ladder.

If it's a lot of paint, I find it easier to use a 5 gallon bucket with a bucket grid. You can drop the grid down and put the lid on the bucket when you aren't using it. The grid will rust eventually but it's okay for 2 days. Also, less concern that you'll step in it!
