I’m looking at having a wall to cabinets built in our sunroom to serve as a mudroom (sunroom is the exterior door we primarily use). I talked with a local cabinet company and they measured and did a design using stock cabinets that come in navy. There is also a piece of stained wood between the drawers and main cabinets. I got the quote and it was WAY more than I expected ($8500). So...any ideas for decreasing cost? Is that normal for this amount of cabinetry?
I know a lot of people online do impressive stuff for their mudrooms using IKEA products and trim work.
If you google “hemnes entryway hack” you’ll see an example of one.
Some are basic. But some are done by talented people who add all sorts of trim work and the come out looking high end and custom. If you or someone you know is handy this could be an option. Good luck!
I would get a couple more quotes. Drawers are more expensive, so you could ask about reducing the number of drawers on the bottom to two instead of 4. Are they quoting solid wood for the stained wood in between the drawers and cabinets? There could be cheaper options there (plywood with stained wood veneer, or a cheaper wood that is painted back or brown), doors are more expensive than open cubes, so you could consider open cubes at the top like your pin (which I love and took a screenshot of for future inspiration).
