I started asking kitchen reno questions on this board years ago. Then life happened and we got pushed off. Then we were set for this spring and i started asking questions again. Then Covid happened. Well we are back on again so I apologize that I’m asking a lot of questions again. (I’m also re-reading old threads - you guys are good!)
So anyway - cabinet supplier? Lowe’s/Home Depot? Somewhere else?
Our cabinets were custom built locally, So I got no recs for that Knobs - we ended up going with Lowe’s. The place my cabinet maker recommended for knobs couldn’t get them to us on time. We ended up going to Lowe’s and picking up a similar design right up off the shelf.
ETA - we bought this faucet at Lowe’s as well. It’s sensor-activated. I don’t know how the heck I lived this long without it.
dove thanks so much. I appreciate the link to the faucet - that’s pretty much what I’m hoping to get so I’m glad to hear you are happy with it. Just curious - did you go with the built in soap dispenser? We have one currently that I’m not thrilled with (you pump it once and it keeps pumping soap out for a few seconds after you’re done washing your hands!). So I was planning to skip it this time. But maybe our current one is just junky?
memenee , We did not get the soap dispenser installed, purely by accident. When we had the counters installed, they forgot to drill the hole. And yes we got “brushed nickel” pulls
We purchased our faucet through our contractor.. next time I'd just buy from build.com or the like since we found out later, their pricing was significantly better.
Our contractor was also a Starmark distributor, so that's what we got through them, and at a great price. We've had them installed in a kitchen and 3 bathrooms now and been really happy with the quality, customization options, and how they've held up.
I found the knobs and drawer pulls I liked on houzz.. and then searched around. We actually ended up buying them off Amazon. Our contractor offered us the same ones from their source for 3x the price, so we were pretty happy with the decision.
We matched all our finishes (knobs and faucet).. I'm not a fan of mixed metals, but a lot of folks are, so it's really your preference.
In our kitchen, we didn't opt for the installed soap dispensers. I am not a fan. They're difficult to load, they leak, and the one that was in our kitchen previously was corroded from the soap (or maybe something else... who knows). My mom put one in with her kitchen remodel and it seems to be empty 100% of the time. I'd rather just fill up a cute soap dispenser than worry about the built in one.
Also, you didn't ask about it, but I wish we'd gone with a push button / air switch for the garbage disposal over a wall/outlet type switch.
We're on the front end of a remodel. We went with Thomasville cabinets from HD because they have a 24 month no interest project loan. Thomasville is considered mid-grade/semi-custom and allowed us to get soft close, things like skinny pull out spice cabinets, pull out shelves, that we couldn't get in the Hampton Bay lineup.
I haven't figured out where to get the hardware yet but I have it picked out. My inspiration is Danielle Walker's kitchen (her newest home, not her test kitchen). She's got a combination of finishes.
I just went on Danielle Walkers IG - is it the kitchen where she does those IG tv cooking sessions?
I’ll reply for both my previous reno and our new build.
We had white IKEA cabinets for the reno. We went with stainless steel appliances, apron sink and Delta touchless faucet from Home Depot. We bought our handles from a local kitchen and bath design shop since they had them in the graphite finish (dark grey). It’s now also available at Home Depot:
At the new house we copied a lot of the same selections, however the island is dark brown stained. For all the cabinet pulls on the island we used the satin nickel finish (same pulls as above). On the white cabinets we used the graphite again.
pumpkin the countertops were Black Pearl granite. It is one of the most common granites available so you should be able to find it. We did the classic finish as it was more budget friendly, but it is usually also available in honed. I will warn you that it showed streaks when cleaned, so I always wiped down the counters with soap and water and then wiped again with a dry hand towel.
I have no idea what the backsplash tile was specifically, however I will say that it took us about a year after the renovation to find the right tile. When we made our selections initially, the white Calcutta marble tile we chose looked super yellowy in the room and didn’t suit, particularly since the room faces North so our cabinets always had a blue tinge. This was some kind of quartzite I think. I know it was stone and moderately expensive, so that’s what I’ll go with.
I just got my knobs for my bathroom update from Amazon. They had the best prices and found an option I didn't find anywhere else. I have purchased some knobs from Ikea before as well. I got my freestanding tub from Amazon as well -- same model $200 cheaper than other places! We have the Delta touchless faucet with the soap dispenser installed in my kitchen. I have no problems with the soap. I make my kid refill it.

Here’s a closer photo:
Thank you! There are so many decisions and ideas so I'm collecting info, but what you did is what my ideal look is. 😊
We bought faucets online, from suppliers who carried the versions with brass, not plastic parts. When we looked at Lowes and HD, the seemingly same models had plastic.
We got our pulls at IKEA, but only because what we wanted was hard to find in the sizes we needed. The ones from ikea could be cut to size and have the right look, even though they weren't exactly what we wanted.
ETA: We got our cabinets from a local cabinet company. Our contractor had a great supplier, but they didn't carry the modem styles we were looking for, so we went with custom. The prices were actually reasonable, and we got exactly what we needed in both style and custom sizes where we needed them. And the quality was really good.
I got our pulls from www.knobs4less.com, Liberty Hardware brand. I've been very happy with the quality and they had some of the best prices I could find online or offline.
For faucets, everything came from a plumbing supply specialist. Don't go big box, find a specialist retailer in your area.

I got both the faucet and knobs/pulls from Amazon. Let me know if you like them and I can dig up the specific info in my order history. I got a touch faucet and really like it.
RockNVolldr.girlfriend and anyone else who ordered online - did you find them in person first? And then ordered online for the price? I had been thinking that this was the type of decision i needed to make after seeing in person and feeling the handles. Just wondering. Thank you!
Our cabinets were from Lowes. I bought cup pulls and knobs from Home Depot I think- they were in store. Brushed nickel, pretty basic. I think our faucet came from Lowes too, pretty sure it's this one: lowes.com/pd/Giagni-Fresco-Stainless-Steel-1-Handle-Deck-Mount-Pre-Rinse-Handle-Lever-Residential-Kitchen-Faucet/3878899

No, I just ordered a few samples. I'm trying to remember now what I did but I believe I actually started out on the Liberty Hardware site but it's somehow connected to Knobs4Less maybe? Anyway, one of the sites had a sample program where you paid a minimal amount for a few samples. Hopefully you can still find that on the site somewhere.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and heft of what I got. I'd definitely buy from them again.

Nah, between the pictures and the measurements I felt comfortable ordering. I mean, the 10-pack of knobs was $20
So I guess I felt okay if I really hated them about changing them out in the future. :-) We were late ordering so didn't have time, but it would have made sense to get a few of each before ordering them all.
dr.girlfriend thanks for the links! And wow - great prices!
I should add that we renovated our kitchen at least 6 or 7 years ago and I haven't had any issues, so I would recommend.
I got the Delta Cassidy touch faucet and at some point the solenoid (?) malfunctioned, but I contacted Delta and they did the replacement for free IIRC.
