sdlaura well it was a combination of things. I started with intermittent fasting to help with my obsession of food. The boredom eating, stress eating and my addiction to sugar. That helped but wasn't helping enough.
In January I decided enough was enough. No more excuses I am going to do this. I joined noom. I've been using noom since January 2nd. Highly recommend.
I count calories and have a Fitbit that tracks my expended calories. I started walking everyday.
I use rewards to keep myself motivated for the next goal.
I think the biggest thing was realizing that this can't be temporary. I can't do this for 3 months and wake up healthy. I told myself it would take at least 2 years to get where I want to be. I shoot for a lb a week and making better choices at each meal.
I am not on a diet. I eat what I want just everything in moderation. Portion control has been the biggest change in my eating. I have also cut out a lot of junk food only because I didn't like it enough to eat the calories, but last night I wanted ice cream so I had ice cream. No regrets about it.
You look great. Strong and confident! Even just the change in your posture is awesome. And from the sounds of it above, your approach is perfect, which is most of the battle.

My confidence has improved drastically. I went to Vegas for my anniversary last year and I was just so uncomfortable in my own skin that I couldn't enjoy myself. I'm so excited to go on my next vacation, and excited for DH to see me. I feel so much better about me
Congratulations!! You’ve worked so hard - you should be proud!
You’ve inspired me. After vacation I’m going to start making better choices. Hitting my mid 40’s plus high stress last school year led to some weight gain. I need to change my lifestyle back to healthier.
xctsclrx, My best friend joined noom and has loved it so far too. She raves about how it's so much more personalized than other programs. Your approach sounds like a great way to make healthy changes and not just "diet." I'm so impressed!
twinmomma , it's the only program I've stuck with longer than a couple of months. I struggled with whole30.
They have a personal coach who talks to you to help set weekly goals, talk about obstacles and ways to overcome.
They also have an SOS setup that if you don't log into the app for a number of days or log food or some warning sign then you get a text message or a phone call(whatever you choose) to check you back in and help get you on track again.
That combo has been very nice. I was able to vent about my situation to the coach and she was able to help me process and regain control while I was spiraling. My SOS has also been activated a couple of times.
