I have a redecorating bug. I bought a new pedestal dining table yesterday (for $10!!), that I will paint white. And now I kinda want to redo the whole kitchen/dining area to go with it. Problem is, we have been decorating on the warm side of things for years. My main level is browns, reds, oranges. And I don’t want to do anything with the cabinets or countertops. Well, I do, but that is a battle I have been having with H for years, and I’ve lost it. It’s more likely we’ll move before we redo the kitchen (which, is on the table, so it’s kind of an update to modernize).
So I think I attached a picture of our cabinets and countertops. I just don’t think a gray paint on the walls will work. Any ideas to get a more coastal feel with those set colors?
I picked up same large chips from the depot tonight, and I actually found a blue/gray that I think works. It’s Behr Chance of Rain. I think the next step will be to get a sample of that and a sample of creamy white, which I hadn’t even considered.
I spent the first part of home arrest working on my garden. Now that it’s gotten so hot, I apparently need an inside project And the kitchen won.
We recently repainted our kitchen walls from dark beige to creamy white and it made such a huge difference. We used Behr Polar Bear because it complements our brown granite counters.
We just used Spinach White from Sherwin Williams in my "coastal" bathroom. It is a really light green. We have a whitish/brownish shower tile, rock like shower floor and gray/brown wood look floor tile. Our vanities are a creamy white. I love the color! I wanted a coastal/spa like feel and it works.
And all the shit on my counters is why I really want a new kitchen. And, I think we are casually house hunting 😬 With plans to get serious once we list our rental house (by end of August)
I think I figured out my issue with creamy. It reminds me of every rental I’ve ever lived in. Swiss coffee beige. But, if it’s cool again, maybe I can.
If the creamy isn’t doing it for you I would suggest BM Simply White. It’s a grey toned warm white that reads almost a true white but still looks good with warm toned woods and cabinets.
Bumping this old post bc I finally have a better, non embarrassing kitchen photo. We will be painting the wall wheat bread, and a subway tile backsplash that is white with brown marbeling (there are two samples to the right of the stove).
H is now mulling over painting the cabinets. Not sold yet, but is entertaining the ideas.
