Help me spruce up my kitchen

Looks nice so far! I like the backsplash a lot.

You have exactly the same kitchen layout as me - except we have a cut out over the sink/dishwasher that overlooks the living room, instead of cabinets. But the rest looks like you took a pic of my kitchen, lol.

Jealous! We tried to add a cut out over the sink, but the plumbing stack went up there, so we gave up bc we didn’t want to tear up enough wall to reroute it.

i hate the kitchen. It’s so small!! This is just to tide me over til we can move! I’ve been wanting to redo it since we moved in 9 years ago. Lol

I am guessing ours is about the same size, from the looks of it. Is the counter on the left an island? We have an island with probably 2 feet on the other side of it to walk, so it's not a big kitchen by any means. I think what saves us is that we have a relatively big kitchen window (at least, big for the space), the cut out above the sink, and the cabinets and countertops are white. So it looks more open and bright than it actually is. 

It's honestly fine for us since we don't do much entertaining, but I do get jealous looking at others' big open beautiful kitchens. Our house is very much a starter home, though, so the kitchen matches the rest of the house. Not sure if this will actually be OUR starter home or a long term place, but I think we'd have to be careful about not over-improving the kitchen if we ever decide to change it.

wildrice, yes, it’s an island. The only work space we have. Thank goodness we have a flat top stove, bc that’s our other work space, for things like crock pot, rice cooker, etc. yes, I have caught things on fire because it has to be a work space. LOL

And yes, I want to over improve it. And after debating that for years, H said he’d rather move than redo the kitchen, bc there is really nothing that could be moved. So... I’m house hunting lol

Well, we went with Wheat Bread and it looks awesome! Clearly an in progress picture. Plus the backsplash. 🥰
