Anyone test positive or know of someone who tested positive with GI symptoms only? My stomach had been very weirdly off for a few days now. I do feel a bit run down so a little more tired than usual, and a maybe a few sniffles here and there. But otherwise my biggest symptom has just been GI related. My husband thinks I’m a bit crazy to worry but I can’t help it.

I don’t personally know of a person positive with those symptoms, but I have read of cases where those are the symptoms. Do you have any suspected exposure? Are you in an area with easy access to testing? If so I would just for peace of mind. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

It is a known thing that it can be just GI (at least it's something that we look for when questioning patients clinically), but I'd get tested if I were you, just for peace of mind.

Every doc apt I've been to they ask about GI issues and diahreah (sp), so apparently that's a COVID issue now. As others have said test if you can. I hope you feel better!
Thanks everyone for your input. I will call my doctors office tomorrow and get their thoughts on whether I should get tested.
Do you think you’ve had an exposure?
Not that I know of. We for the most part had been SUPER careful, but it’s 100 degrees out and we have been going to a neighborhood pool very frequently over the past few weeks . Sometimes even if we try to stay far from people, others aren’t as respectful and definitely get too close for comfort. Things aren’t great where we live in terms of cases.

Just FYI, our household has had some GI stuff. We called DDs pediatrician and they said that the stomach bug is going around and probably not necessary to test unless we had traveled out of state or had a known exposure. Your doctor may or may not have similar advice depending on where you are.

Thanks! This is helpful. Yeah it absolutely could just be a stomach bug type thing. But yes I will be curious to hear their thoughts.
We had DS tested last week when he had a fever and GI symptoms. We got the test because we wanted to know for sure if we should quarantine for two weeks. We had no known exposure and it was negative.
Yep. My aunt (who should have been someone who really got nailed - several at risk health issues) had stomach problems as her primary and first symptom. Only got tested because my uncle developed a cough and she was due for a surgical procedure. She had a negative test, then he started coughing and she started having stomach issues, he was positive, then she was the next day.
She eventually had some tiredness and not sure on fever. But tons of stomach stuff.
My neighbor had it and it was mostly gi symptoms. He lost 10 lbs. He did have a slight fever for a day and his taste was off. Everything tasted sweet. The GI problems were the main complaint, though. He had nothing respiratory. He’s fine now.
Yes, you can have GI only symptoms, but from what I've read you are more likely to get a false negative if you have those than respiratory symptoms (since they swab your nose). But stool testing (which seems to only be done in hospital situations or some studies) will show presence of the virus.
So, yes, it might be it. And sure, go test. But you are less likely to get a definitive answer.
