Yes! I'm super excited! I was going to vote for her in the primary but didn't get the chance. I am so happy with this pick though. I tried to buy a yard sign too but the store seems overloaded ATM. Good sign! I already have one friend on FB who is miffed because they find Kamala "insincere" and my friends "progressive" vote doesn't count. But in general on Twitter I am seeing lots of great posts in favor of Kamala (from Moms Demand, Jose Andres and WCK, all other women who were considered for VP, Barack Obama).
YES. That's not how any of this works! I know I am a miserable pedant, but this annoys me almost as much as people talking about a Pelosi presidency.
I am admittedly ignorant to that process, so I'm more than happy to learn and listen to those who know!
Senate leadership (Majority Leader, Majority Whip, etc.) are decided by the caucus. There are no set qualifications as to who fills these rolls, but they tend to be people who have been in the Senate awhile. Senators in leadership positions usually keep those positions, even if the party in the majority changes, until they leave the Senate. Warren just isn't on this path and I don't think there is any appetite within the caucus to ditch Schumer. I also am not sure that Warren would be a particularly great majority leader, as much as I love her. I think her talents are better suited to other positions.

The vice presidential debate is happening on my birthday....Happy Birthday to me!
Michelle Obama had her Becoming tour in Chicago in my birthday. I could only get one ticket, so I went by myself, but it was nevertheless an OUTSTANDING birthday.
My birthday is 10 days after the election and if we win, I will consider it an early birthday present.
Yeah, I’m actually not seeing a lot of excitement.
I‘m seeing a lot of “America: protests police all summer long Democrats: picks police for VP” type of a response.
I love her, I’m happy to have her, I hope this wasn’t a misstep.
On Twitter? You need to follow new people then.
Meh. There are several Black people on my twitter that aren't super excited. I'm not mad at them. I certainly don't value the opinion of trump supporters and don't follow any on twitter, but I don't mind twitter not being a total echo chamber and reading different people's opinions.
Yeah, I have several people who were not super excited about Biden, and the Harris nom pushed them over the edge a bit. I have faith they will do the right thing, but they're not excited at all.

I am seeing excitement from a pretty broad selection of folks, and I was commenting on them saying that they didn’t see a lot of excitement, not that they saw some that weren’t excited. I am seeing a lot of excitement from a lot of different people.
How does a vacant Senate seat get filled in CA? I wonder who might fill that position.
The governor can appoint a replacement until a special election. Which is pretty par for the course (surprising for CA, though, which has some convoluted political stuff).
The last time a senator was replaced before their term ended was Pete Wilson, who resigned to become governor, and Diane Feinstein was elected during a "special election" that just coincided with the actual election day in 1992, but she got to become a senator right away.

I've seen a lot of that for sure, and then I've also seen responses like this:
Responses are all over the map on this. But I still maintain I would have bought a yard sign and campaigned for literally ANY VP pick. I really hope people can come together on this.
It’s almost as if Black people aren’t a monolith and the Dems can’t expect them to just jump on board because they deigned to pick a Black woman for VP.

I think Adam Schiff will run for her Senate seat when she becomes VP.

Yes.
Obviously I’m here, so I know there’s a lot of excitement for her in general, but there’s more than a fair bit of disappointment and even anger that she is the pick.
I saw one that said Kamala is the Black politician white people wanted, not the one Black people wanted.
Also seeing a lot of comments about colorism and fatphobia.
Plenty of progressive Dems saying she’s not great because of her record and because we need help in the Midwest and South, not California.
I’m also finding plenty of tweets that are acknowledging her faults and finding reasons to still be supportive. I’m trying to focus on those.
I cried. Cried and cried. So so so happy. I volunteered weekly for her campaign and was devastated when she suspended. This pick makes me so very happy, but I am overjoyed at what this means for the black and brown girls and women in America. The history of this moment is overwhelming me, so I imagine the joy is felt even deeper across this nation.

I'm just so glad he picked. I wanted to vote for her in the primary but she suspended her campaign before I could. I cannot wait to vote. Early voting starts in mid october here.
