I am admittedly ignorant to that process, so I'm more than happy to learn and listen to those who know!
Senate leadership (Majority Leader, Majority Whip, etc.) are decided by the caucus. There are no set qualifications as to who fills these rolls, but they tend to be people who have been in the Senate awhile. Senators in leadership positions usually keep those positions, even if the party in the majority changes, until they leave the Senate. Warren just isn't on this path and I don't think there is any appetite within the caucus to ditch Schumer. I also am not sure that Warren would be a particularly great majority leader, as much as I love her. I think her talents are better suited to other positions.
I agree that Warren wouldn’t be well-suited to the majority leader position. Senate leadership needs to be even more moderated than House leadership. They need a solid person who is respected across all the facets of the caucus and who can go into negotiations with House leadership and White House to carry a unified message on behalf of the party. Warren and other progressive Senators play a different role in the caucus - elevating important issues and being a left flank for many decisions that need to get made by leadership. If she took that position she’d end up just like Pelosi, a career progressive who is lambasted for having to compromise during negotiations she doesn’t control.

I’m excited. I really am. She was my first first choice for president. But if she was going to be a member of Biden’s team I really wanted her for AG. Someone give me a new AG name please.

Might be too much California but Becerra (CA AG) would be great.
I am so excited for the young Indian and African American women in my life just like I was excited for all the girls in 2016 and all Black Americans in 2008.
There isn’t a single perfect candidate. So like someone else said upthread, I hope people can come together on this!

Maura Healey can be AG for two years, prosecute the shit out of 45, then come back and kick Charlie Baker’s ass in the governor’s race.
I am excited about the possibility we will have a president and a vice president, I don't have to turn off when they come on tv, because I don't want my kids seeing grown ups behaving the way our current president does. If he had chosen an alpaca or a random woman in line at Trader Joe's, I would vote for Biden. I think she is a good choice.

I’d hate to give him up, but Bob Ferguson is amazing.

The governor can appoint a replacement until a special election. Which is pretty par for the course (surprising for CA, though, which has some convoluted political stuff).
The last time a senator was replaced before their term ended was Pete Wilson, who resigned to become governor, and Diane Feinstein was elected during a "special election" that just coincided with the actual election day in 1992, but she got to become a senator right away.
I think Adam Schiff will run for her Senate seat when she becomes VP.

Hell, one of my BFFs is a 54 year old half Asian man and he’s PUMPED about the representation she’s bringing to the ticket.

That's how I feel about Maura Healy! AG might be a great move for her but she's so good for Massachusetts.
I'm SO excited and happy! My BFF (who is Indian-American) was the one to tell me and it made her so happy that she got to be the one to share the news. We didn't really specifically about how big this is, but it was this unspoken undercurrent. So, so, so happy for her and for all the girls and women who can see themselves in her.
I saw one of the Berners on my FB paying excited about Kamala also, which was exciting to see. It gave me a glimmer of hope. I'm holding onto those moments and enjoying them when I can.
Anecdotal: all the white people on my feed are like: here’s all the critiques of Harris.
I have no problem giving people time to grieve about who wasn't chosen if Harris wasn't one of their favorites or if they have misgivings about her. Truly. So I'm giving everyone who's disappointed a pass right now and for a little while...but not forever. Eventually, they're going to have to accept this ticket unless they somehow do prefer that Trump gets four more years.

What bugs me is for many of the critics NONE of the women of color under consideration would meet their purity test. There are people for sure who would ONLY accept Bernie, and even then if Biden did somehow pick Bernie (LOL) would be pissed that he wasn't at the top of the ticket. But I so rarely see people name actual names to answer the "who would you want instead" question. And when they do, it's usually someone they don't know that much about whose record they haven't yet fully examined, and I guarantee they'd come swinging for this person if they were actually chosen.
