I have no problem giving people time to grieve about who wasn't chosen if Harris wasn't one of their favorites or if they have misgivings about her. Truly. So I'm giving everyone who's disappointed a pass right now and for a little while...but not forever. Eventually, they're going to have to accept this ticket unless they somehow do prefer that Trump gets four more years.
What bugs me is for many of the critics NONE of the women of color under consideration would meet their purity test. There are people for sure who would ONLY accept Bernie, and even then if Biden did somehow pick Bernie (LOL) would be pissed that he wasn't at the top of the ticket. But I so rarely see people name actual names to answer the "who would you want instead" question. And when they do, it's usually someone they don't know that much about whose record they haven't yet fully examined, and I guarantee they'd come swinging for this person if they were actually chosen.

Anecdotal: all the white people on my feed are like: hereās all the critiques of Harris.

It's okay to privately grieve about it (I am, Harris wasn't my top choice) but now is NOT the time to complain about her all over the internet. There is no "eventually" - we need unity now. (Not directed at you, I'm just frustrated with all the Dems I see criticizing her). Criticizing Biden for choosing her is also pointless.
Ugh.. I am so annoyed. Iāve already seen a flurry of crap about how she is an anchor baby, he parents were on student visa when she was born (in the US), and that makes her ineligible.
What the fuck people?! So Obama āwasnāt born here,ā and now, a WOC was born here, but we are going to find some other made up reason.
Tucker Carlson losing his shit after being corrected about the pronunciation of her name is giving me life. Suck it, buddy. This is just one of many tweets with the clip, I don't know who this person is:

But again, these are not people who would vote for Biden anyhow. It's not like they were on the fence, thinking about Biden, but now won't vote for him because his VP pick "is an anchor baby." So who cares if their opinion is that she isn't eligible? The fact is, she is eligible and she will be on the ballot. Anyone who cares about this is not the vote we need to court.

When do we get a day where white men shut the fuck up on social media? The number of them who suddenly think that Elizabeth Warren is the bee's knees again after spending an entire year besmirching her on behalf of Saint Bernard of Shouty Mountain is kind of remarkable.
There are honest, good-faith critiques of Kamala's record, and I think we should have a conversation about those. But there is definitely a constituency of "progressives" out there who were a-ok with reproductive justice being negotiable and denying sexism and racism who are now acting like they are the arbitors of who is/isn't progressive enough. GTFO. If you call yourself progressive and your only talking point is the same as a Federalist t-shirt, you need to fucking check yourself.

I said this a while ago in another Bernie thread ... granted, Iām not actively seeking out info on what heās up to nowadays, but where the hell is he? One would think that someone so intent on being president would still step up as a leader even if he doesnāt wind up on the ticket. Has he been pushing for anything related to COVID recovery, unemployment, whatever?

I'm sure he's off in some corner shouting to himself. But no, he hasn't really been a big player in any of the COVID negotiations or pushes because NOBODY LIKES HIM. His colleagues don't respect him and he is more interested in talking than actually getting stuff done, especially if getting it done might require *GASP* compromise.
No one will ever convince me that he ran for president for the "right reasons." (LOL sounds like a Bachelorette quote....) I think he was in it for the fame and fawning.

He's probably busy working on his 2024 campaign. *eyeroll*

Saint Bernard of Shouty Mountain (love it!) has never really been productive in anything excepting shouting and pointing. I'm not in the least surprised he's been largely silent and taken his ball home.

Iām feeling better about this today.
I had a close friend ask why we should be excited for her because she absolutely was not, and we had a good talk about why yes, there are some valid criticisms, but Kamala is awesome all on her own and more people should know who she is and how much she loves this country.
We also talked about the Congressional races that are getting really exciting and why we need to look for optimism all over and not just in one race.
It was good. It reminded me why Kamala was my first pick for President and made me feel better about moving forward. I still think there are going to be issues, but Iām ready to get to work and back her up, if only because she deserves more than my anxiety while dealing with the likes of Tucker Carlson.

Well, he can't step up and be a leader of a party that he isn't actual a part of, can he? I say this tongue in cheek, but it's kind of true. He's not a true Dem and he's never been about the party, the country or really, anything other than his own agenda. I don't expect my support from Bernie himself, on anything.
Also damn, Kamala cannot win. The left is all "she's a cop!" and meanwhile Trump and Pence are like "she's weak on crime and a SOCIALIST."
This is what I said to one of my friends when he sent me a Shaun King post about Kamala Harris. The tone of the post annoyed me, like he's deigning to approve of her now. And then he told me that her record as a DA wasn't great but she's grown since leaving the DA's office. I wish I could see the post again, but apparently Shaun King made his account private. My friend is at least on board with voting Democrat. But ugh, yes, the criticism from both sides. When my friend her going on about what Republicans will say about Harris, I finally responded that they're racist and sexist and weren't going to vote for her anyway.
I'm so in awe and appreciative of Joe and Kamala. I wish the party had someone younger and more exciting (Obama 2008) at the head of the ticket, but for anyone to be willing to take this on now is impressive. This country is such a mess and so divided - just the thought of trying to figure out how to put out the thousands of fires currently going is exhausting. And to not only be willing to deal with all of that, but also willing to go through the knock-down, drag-out campaign that will be the next few months - that is something that only people who love this country would be willing to do.

Well, Trumps doing it and he isnāt exactly all about the country first. I do think both Biden and Harris want a change for the better, but Iāve seen too many ātrump wouldnāt do all of this if he didnāt love his countryā statements to give credence to the idea that showing up in proves you care.

Agreed, but in my eyes he's the one making the mess that now some grown-up has to come clean up (hopefully now, if not in 4 years).

Not really, though. What he's going to deal with from the left is not at all what Biden/Harris will have to deal with from the right.

Shaun King spent a year calling her a murderer* and misconstruing her record to help Sanders. He has been problematic AF for-fucking-ever, so he can blow me where the Pampers is with his āsupport.ā Iām dying that this was the straw that broke the camelās back on making his Twitter account private, but Iām sure heāll go right ahead and reset those settings so he can raise money as soon as he has a new idea/scam.
*Sorry! I misremembered - he accused her of framing someone for murder. He's still a jackass!

Whoops, I should've clarified. It's his Instagram that was private as of this morning. His Twitter is still public. He's still a condescending ass about Harris, IMO. Every woman who's experienced men questioning their credentials and abilities will recognize his tone, I think. It's this tweet (forgive me if it doesn't work, using the mobile version of the site):
He says nice things, after making sure to get in a dig, in the tweet thread that continues. I appreciate that part, because I know there are people who are concerned about parts of her record. I think I'd read it differently if it weren't coming from him.
Tucker Carlson losing his shit after being corrected about the pronunciation of her name is giving me life. Suck it, buddy. This is just one of many tweets with the clip, I don't know who this person is:

"Fucker Carlson, or Tooker Carlson, or whatever..."

This is making me rage. Yes, her name pronunciation does matter, Tucker the Fucker. It's called respect. Apparently it's something we no longer believe in.
