and not have to wait a million years for delivery? It is for my kids room. I'm not interested in spending a ton of money and would have been perfectly happy with stuff from Ikea, but everything they sell seems to be out of stock. We went to Raymour and Flanigan over the weekend and weren't able to get what we wanted, found something that was okay and would fit the need and was supposed to be available for pickup yesterday, but wasn't. I was never really 100% sold on what we did order, so I think I'm going to just cancel. The only reason we ordered it really was because it was promised for Tuesday. At this point, we've already gotten rid of my kids old furniture and their clothes are sitting on the floor.
Besides Wayfair and Overstock, where else can I look? And if you want to shop for me, feel free. I'm looking for 2 matching chest of drawers. Would prefer white, but will settle for black. Need to have 5 decent sized drawers and I'd like to stay under $250 each. And nothing too shallow, I've seen stuff that is like 12-14" and I'm not sure what they expect you to fit in drawers that narrow/shallow.
Have you looked at Bobs Discount? We got my older daughters stuff there about 10 years ago and it was cheap and has held up well. I feel like I was able to negotiate on price too
Is Ikea out of stock in the store or just online? I know there are doing terribly with shipping, but stores are open here so I'd just do that. It's actually on my list of things to do at some point, too - there are few bedroom furniture items that I want but haven't found anything elsewhere in the range that I want to pay. I may take a partial vacation day to avoid going during busy weekend hours.

Nothing I'd consider is in stock in the store. There are few things available online, but I've heard horror stories about their delivery recently.
ETA: I just tried to walk through placing an order and they won't even deliver to my area. WTH

Huh, that's good to know before I take time off to drive to the store. I think we have one within 30 minutes of home but that's not as enticing if they are low stock there too.
I think places are just really short staffed right now and there are probably supply chain issues getting things produced.

Went to my local IKEA last week, at 1:00 on a Tuesday. We had to wait in line in the parking garage for probably 20-30 minutes to even get in the store. The item I was looking for was out of stock (even though it said they had 30+ when I checked inventory online), so we left without anything. The line for checkout was probably 50+ people long. (They had one long line that snaked through stanchions rather than individual lines at each register.)
All this to say that if I had found what I wanted, just one small item, the entire trip would have probably taken close to two hours just to get in and out of the store. I wouldn’t count on it being a quick or easy trip. It was madness.

If you are thinking white marsh, it was crazy busy when I went. Like a single line that was about 15 minutes long to checkout. But all masked up. Yet I seriously regretted going (it was a weekend, and looked like any other weekend in ikea.

I was thinking the one in College Park, since that's closer to me now, but as I'm typing that I'm realizing that with students (even at lower numbers) moving on campus within the next several weeks, that would probably be a terrible idea.
It is odd to me that I have 2 options for Ikea nearby. I used to have to drive 4 hours to get to one!

I got most of my stuff for the new place from Wayfair, and most of the stuff for my mom's new retirement place from there too. I like everything I ordered, and their customer service has been good.
ETA: Oops, missed the part at the end where you said besides Wayfair. Sorry!
Is UMDCP going back? Most of our interns are being forced online...
Although, that said, the ones that lived in dorms have pivoted to rent apartments with friends - which yeah... that would take IKEA to the max 😬
I think most of the USM system campuses are going back in a hybrid sort of format, with the goal being low density. I know the news recently was that UMD students were allowed to move on campus by the end of the month, but that in-person classes won't start until mid-September. I imagine they have fewer students living on campus than usual though I don't know all the details.
I work at another USM school and we have a portion of our freshmen/out of state/international students in the dorms, but they are single rooms in most cases. I think something like 85% of our classes are going to be online, but some freshman classes, labs, arts, etc will be in-person if there is no way to do them online. Students started moving in this week, with classes starting on the 24th.
So... Ikea would be way worse in a normal year, but I still imagine there are a decent number of students moving back to campus and/or nearby apartments.
ETA: sorry to hijack! I don't have any useful suggestions, most of my furniture is from Ikea/Wayfair/Overstock!

I was at the White Marsh one about two weeks ago in the middle of a Sunday and actually had no issues at all - I was shocked. I needed a desk - there were 13 in stock on the website, then about 7 left in store when I got there, and they were sold out again by the late afternoon. I guess I just hit it at the right time, or maybe everyone was expecting madness on a Sunday so everyone was staying away.

Oh wow. It was about 4:30 on the 26th (timestamp on the picture I took of the line). So... maybe a few hours after you. Hi neighbor! 😂
