I was on the fence about buying an out-of-state Annual Pass and asked this board for advice. I went ahead and bought it during our January trip and used the pass for 8 days on that trip. I had all these short trips in my head planned to return with just my kids starting with spring break in April. This was mentally huge for me as I find it daunting to plan even small stuff with both kids swirling around. I felt like I had finally found my niche. I am a "theme park mom." I love taking my young kids to theme parks because I don't have to think about anything except finding where the shaded areas are.
Now I don't think it's worth the risk to fly for leisure or drive 16 hours to go to Orlando with them. I cancelled my pass yesterday. Disney is still getting my money. DD and I got into pin trading during quarantine and I bought some DIS stock. I read about people not cancelling because "what if Disney doesn't offer them again and grandfathers us in?" but that reasoning made no sense to me.
Our current passes are good through the end of Nov. I hope we’ll feel more comfortable going by then. Honestly as FL residents, part of the beauty of the pass was that we could plan a trip on relatively short notice (usually 30 days), and now that reservations are required I don’t think we’re going to be able to plan far enough out to even get to use our passes again. If we don’t use them by the time they expire, we probably won’t renew.
We cancelled ours for Disneyland. It’s local so we got a good amount of use out of them from July 2019 to Valentine’s Day this year, but we won’t feel comfortable going when they open back up so we won’t be using them anyway. It was fun while it lasted and my kids really enjoyed it, but we’ll be waiting until this all settles down before going back.

My parents canceled their WDW passes.
We are likely canceling our DL passes. At first, I was going to keep them - but as this drags on, I just don't see us being comfortable going until a while past when they reopen. We certainly wouldn't go now if it were an option.
Our passes were originally set to expire in July, but with the extensions granted due to park closures, they now expire at the end of October. We have a long trip planned in early October, and we made good use of our passes over the past year, but we won't be renewing. One of the big perks for buying the AP for me was park hopping, which you can no longer do for the foreseeable future. And with the reduced park hours, it's just not worth it for us to spend that kind of money for our family of 5.

We are keeping ours for now but only because we have a young child and we live only an hour away. I don't want to miss opportunities to take him while he's young + the hours/hopping were never perks we really used much anyways. I can't remember the last time we stayed in a park longer than 5 hours, and that was even staying onsite.
If we didn't have a child, or lived further away (ie - wanting to maximize park time), we'd cancel.
(though I loathe the new park reservation system that seems stacked against AP's...)
Update: we made a reservation in November, the week before our passes expire. Not sure yet if we’ll be able to go then, but we’ll give it a try. I’ll report back!

I kept mine. They are giving so little back it didn’t seem worth it. Plus they aren’t renewing and I’m nervous they might hold off adding any new APs for awhile. For now our passes have been extended through January.

We cancelled ours. Most of our group expired in Sept and we were not going back by then.
The one we really debated was my DH. With the extension his pass would have been good through a potential 2021 Spring Break trip. I just was afraid that trip would end up being cancelled and we would have lost a decent amount of money.
I do have one unused AP cert on my account for future use so if they never sell them again we will have at least one we can use.
I wish they had allowed people with later expiration dates more time to decide.

Did you decided to keep your trip?
We got our AP checks in the mail. They seem about what I expected, so that is good.

Our passes expire on the 29th of this month. We’re doing one day at AK on the 23rd. We were already planning a trip to stay with the ILs that week (we’re driving), so we figured we’ll give it a try. Based on that we’ll decide if we want to renew or not. The FL resident AP prices went up a little, which I’m not happy about.....but if the parks are basically empty anyway, we’ll probably get a lot more bang for our buck when we do go, no worrying about FPS, etc.
I’ll write another post after our visit in a few weeks!!!

I got a refund on my credit card even though I paid with gift cards. I got way more back than expected. I basically went for free for some of our 8 day trip since they refunded me more than an 8 day ticket would have cost. And I got the AP discount at all the higher end restaurants during the trip which was a decent chunk saved as well.
It's ok though, I have spent plenty at ShopDisney since March to more than make up for it LOL.

I was expecting it to go back on a card as well. The checks did not all arrive at once either. I believe three of the four were cancelled at the same time. That is great that you got back more than you expected!
I still need to cancel my DLR AP. It expires in March, but I haven't used it once. I need to stop being lazy.
My mom is a DW AP holder, and decided to cancel. She lives in the Midwest and usually takes several trips between March-December, so she didn’t use hers at all this year.
She made the decision to cancel a few months ago, but had some difficulty getting the refund for the months the resort was closed. She called I think for the third time in several weeks this week, and was really generously refunded the entirety of the AP, not just the months that the resort was closed, because she had not used it this year. She was shocked.
So, two things: I thought that was great customer service, and, you might see if you can get some portion (possibly all) of the pass refunded, especially since you never got to use it.
