My very short vacation is coming to a close tomorrow early afternoon. I plan to continue The Purge, and try to focus on getting some work done for my one very patient client.
DH will probably have to work on Sunday, so depending on weather, maybe I will take the kids to the beach near my parents. That’s about it. Tons of camping laundry and cleaning. Very exciting.
My mom is coming today. Lots of cleaning. DH threw a tantrum because DD ate her breakfast late and then didn’t want lunch. Then we get sandwiches and now she wants one. The kids are annoyed by the cleaning and keep trying to escape to their room. I still have to clean bathrooms.
We had a guy fix our fence posts. He was expensive and he just left the dirt all piled up. Since he is the only one that does it, I think it’s worth it, but dude clean up the worksite at least!
Tomorrow is DD’s 8th bday. The older kids do a mini skateboard camp 9-noon, then one of DD’s friends from school is having a few friends come eat ice cream in a park for his bday, so we’ll go to that in the afternoon. Then one of the families we were on vacation with last week is coming to have outdoor dinner and swim. We’re not seeing DD’s BFF because our family flew a week ago and they want to wait two weeks to see us, which I understand. In addition to her new bedroom, we’re giving DD a mermaid tail for swimming and some clip-on earrings (since she’d like to get her ears pierced for her bday, but businesses that do it are still prohibited from opening here).
Sunday I made a reservation for one of our community pools in the morning for a change of scenery (they’re limiting capacity). Sunday afternoon I might take the older kids to an office supply store to buy some school supplies for school/their pod that starts Monday. They’ve only been to a couple stores in the past 5 months, so I’m thinking that might be novel enough to get them a little excited for virtual school.
Our weekend plans are all over the place. Tomorrow morning we have a drive by birthday for the girls' BFF. Beau and son were supposed to go camping with another dad and son, but that got cancelled so now we're thinking of throwing up some tents in my yard for the kids since the weather looks amazing. I've also considered trying to rig up my projector to do an outdoor movie for the kids. Maybe now combined with yard camping? I may take the kids to go visit friends of mine who have a pool on Sunday. It's not going to be very hot, but they're dying to have us over for a visit and have been very cautious about opening up their circle. So much TBD. It all sounds fun, but I wish I had a plan going into it. I hate winging it.
No real plans so far. A friend and I are planning a hike on Sunday morning, which means I somehow have to sneak out of the house in hiking clothes and hope DD doesn't notice. Because if she knew where I was going, she'd want to come.
It is currently hot here. It's supposed to be hot all weekend. Thankfully they got our A/C up and running - hopefully it stays that way!
I'm on call this weekend. Went to a friend's to sit outside and grill last night. Dh is working. I think Dd and I are going to go have lunch actually out one day. Her favorite pizza place has a huge outdoor patio. Then I told her we could look for school clothes, that she may never wear. Skipping over summer tops straight into sweatshirts.

We have no plans. I’m spent. This week was so stressful being the week back after vacation and the first week of school for ds1 while ds2 was home alone with us. My brain is fried. I plan to watch tv and relax while I do laundry and finish up some work.
We went to a small waterfall/ creek today. I feel like there are too many people but we are socially distanced from everyone. We have chairs set up away from everyone and the kids are avoiding everyone in the river.
My co-worker got cleared to go back to work. Everyone else tested negative for Covid. Thank god!

We had our stairs redone but the walls were still chipped from where we had the baby gates. It's flat paint so I get the bright idea that we can just touch it up. We had an old paint sample and the name of the paint and it is still sold, but apparently what DH did was take the old paint sample and ask them to match it vs plug in this valspar paint number and make it. I don't know if that would have made a difference or not but now it looks so much worse because the paint doesn't match.
We have to obviously repaint our whole downstairs now right?
I'm sure there's a solution here but I'm not in any mood to figure it out.

If it’s old paint, even pulling it from the paint number may not have matched because paint tends to fade over time. If you can pull out a piece of wall or chip the size of a quarter, they can match it perfectly. Depends on if you’d rather repair and paint a small amount or paint everything.

I'd rather paint a small amount for sure. Sigh. I don't want to paint anymore today though. Back to the store I guess.
ETA: Although, I just painted over the same spot with the old paint and it matches very well. I think they just F'd it up at the store.
Oh we did that too. Rather than ask for a refund (we had only paid like $100 so far), we just moved it to 2021. Let's hope camps run then.
Ditto. I’m really hoping they don’t go out of business and I don’t lose my $1500.
We had paid almost the full amount when we decided not to send DD1. 4 weeks of sleepaway camp = $$$$. Their deal was that if we rolled over, they would offer us the early bird discount off 2020 rates, plus 10% credit based on what we already paid. DD1 is at an age where tuition jumps because they can do more - white water rafting, etc. So it ended up being a pretty big savings for us - probably close to 20%.
