Any recommendations for a dish set? Something white, not too expensive, and that stays in stock so that when we inevitably break most of all something (we are currently down 5 bowls and 7 bread plates on our current set), we can replace them??
Dishwasher safe. We don’t have a microwave (FFC?), but occasionally would like to be able to toss them into the oven on a “warm” setting.
I have Corelle. I resisted for a long time because it seemed dorky or something, but honestly, I love it with kids. It stacks easily and isn't super thick. I really like the way mine looks. It's plain white, with a wavy pattern molded onto the edges. I also have Fiesta Ware but that got too thick and heavy to use everyday with four kids.
I also have a very plain but nice white bone china set from Crate & Barrel from when we got married. It's our "nice" china but we almost never really use it. It's super plain but an elegant shape. I had planned to dress it up with chargers and fancy salad plates for all the dinner parties I was going to have (LOLOLOLOL!) I'm sure they make similar things now.
I have a plain white casual set that we registered for. We use the salad plates pretty frequently, but the dinner plates have been switched to mostly serving platters because they’re so big and heavy. We use our Corelle dishes almost all the time. They’re lightweight, inexpensive, and super durable. There’s a reason why all of our grandmas had them and you can still find complete sets at Goodwill!
We got new white dishes about a year ago. I wanted white bone china, relatively light weight and strong, and a pattern that looked like it would be available for a long time.
I also wanted certain shapes for my coffee cup and bowls. Preferred made in US, dishwasher safe a must. I settled on Lenox Tin Can Alley, Four degree. Before I bought I checked replacements.com and it was listed as active, 2004-present. Much better than the pattern I was replacing that was available from like 2006-07. I have been very happy with them.

Corelle. They’re super simple but durable and easy to clean and have been around forever. Also they are thin so they’re easy to stack a ton without taking up all the space.
I also have my grandmother’s china and the nice dishes we got for our wedding but we never use either. I thought we could have nice dinner parties or home celebrations for things like back to school but lolololol. That’s not real life.

We have the Crate & Barrel Maison set. Originally got it for our wedding in 2001 and have replaced pieces as needed (which hasn't been that often - they're pretty durable). So in stock for 19 years seems like a good track record.
I have these Corelle (and matching salad plates) and I love them - so super basic and look like what you see in a nice restaurant. Thin, white, easy maintenance. Goes with everything.
Crate and Barrel Aspen, it's a nice bright white. I've had it for 9 years and have only one bowl chip. It seems like an C&B basic that will be available for a long time. Most of their holiday plates are also Aspen shaped so I've managed collect a few thanksgiving & hanukkah items. I also love that I can mix the set with my fine china to expand the number of place settings, if needed. It's dishwasher & oven safe. I barely ever have an issue with silverware marks and barkeepers friend removes the ones I find.
Our dishes are from World Market. The ones we picked aren’t white but we’ve found them to be good quality, not too expensive especially if they’re on sale, and some of their lines stay in stock for a long time. (The design we bought was just discontinued after ~10 years)
Another rec for Corelle - they are simple and elegant, and they don’t break even when you drop them. They look identical to my mom’s $$$$ bone china set (which she bought to upgrade her Corelle lol).

Corelle are good - sturdy, lightweight. My first pattern came from them and I loved it for many years. But they do discontinue patterns on occasion, so you can buy a spare set (I did that when Pfaltzgraf discontinued my second pattern) or haunt eBay or Replacements.com.
We have the Crate & Barrel Essentials, which meet all of those criteria (although I've never put mine in a warm oven). I like them a lot, but my biggest complaint is they are so heavy. I actually lobbied for Corelle when we were dish shopping, but my H wasn't a fan, and it wasn't a battle that I cared enough about to fight.
