We are refinancing and set to close next week. Do I pay my current mortgage payment for September? I was going to pay it on Friday, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't. Technically it isn't late until the 15th, so if something happens and settlement gets moved I can still pay it in plenty of time, I just don't want to mess anything up with the payoff amount. I asked my new mortgage people and didn't really get an answer, so thought I'd ask here
We close today and the new mortgage company got a payoff valid thru Sept 11th. Keep in mind that once you close, the loan won’t fund for 3 days and I’d give a day or 2 to the old mortgage provider to satisfy their loan. If that puts you close to 9/15, I’d tell the new mortgage company that you’re paying the current payment.

I would also skip paying September on your current/old, but keep an eye on it for funding prior to the 15th.
I'm also supposed to close next week, but I called Thursday last week to cancel my auto payment since you cant do it online, but it was too late to cancel, I guess 3 business days before an auto draft is too late 🙄. Because it was close I asked the new mortgage company and she said she would skip and watch it since the payment would change the payoff and affect the new loan. But, here I am having to provide another payoff statement since my current loan provider is so terrible.
ETA - Just further evidence of how terrible our current loan provider is, I logged in this morning and my auto payment didn't draft after all, even though I talked to someone late last week.
