We worked with the loan officer all through email and DocuSigned everything. The notary called us Thursday afternoon to sign the final paperwork in person that evening. We met at the Starbucks down the street like we did the last time we refied. Turns out that location is now permanently closed. So we all wore masks and signed ourpaperwork on H’s truck tailgate in the parking lot.
In CA we need a notary and we don’t have the option of a virtual notarization

We closed last Friday, so I thought I'd share. The title company's notary called and asked us to set up tables outside and to wear masks. She sat at one table, we sat that the other and the closest we ever got was when she put the docs to sign down on the far side of our table. The weather was great, day was beautiful, and everything went perfectly except for a bird pooping right where I needed to sign one page!
The notary said she'd done all outdoor closings for months and would highly recommend.
+1 for mobile notary. We set up a folding table in the front yard. We stood away from each other and only approached the table to sign. Obviously masks, etc.
