I've never planted them before...hope they do okay! Hoping to do some around the edge of flower beds that were devastated when they dug up our sewer pipe, and others at the base of the giant tree in our backyard where grass isn't coming in after seeding a few weeks ago. Might be too shady there, though.
Nice! My neighbor planted about 200 in his lawn last year and used a power drill to make the holes.
I got a bulb auger thing to use with our drill last year, but then didn't find it super help because I ended up planting in big patches, rather than one bulb at a time.
I planted about 250 daffodil bulbs and now I'm changing the shape of one of our beds and need to go dig up about a third of them to move them. DH thinks I'm crazy but those bulbs weren't cheap!
I planted 100 daffodil bulbs last weekend. It was my 2nd set of 100, the first set was a few years ago and mostly in the front yard. I wanted the early spring color for the backyard too! With an auger bit and a drill it was not too bad.
I'd have been better off with a wider diameter auger bit, because some of the bulbs were doubles and pretty wide, but I got it done.
This is my goal this fall. How do you guys keep animals from taking the bulbs? I planted lilies when we first moved in. Within a week the squirrels had dug them all up

That's why I do daffodils instead of tulips, even though tulips are a big thing in our city (Dutch heritage, an annual tulip festival, etc.). Daffodils are resistant to deer, rodents, etc. We have lots of squirrels and chipmunks, but my daffodils stay untouched.
