Has anyone used or seen an open toilet paper holder used for a hand towel? H really (really) hates towel rings and so I was looking at arms... but then he suggested just using a TP holder instead.
I think it makes sense, but it might be a little short (meaning the arm isn't long enough). From Googling "hand towel holder" it seems like there are plenty of arm options that are specifically intended for hand towels.
I'm trying to figure out why your husband hates towel rings but wants this, though! They seem the same to me.

I realized that after doing more research. Looks like standard towel bar length is about 9" vs 5-6" for TP. That'll be the biggest difference.
He hates the towel rings because they take up so much vertical space and he doesn't like having to thread through the ring. Same thing for bath towels- he only wants hooks (which is fine by me, lol).
I was totally on board with your husband. Then I grabbed our hand towel as folded (roughly thirds?) and put it on our toilet holder and.. it's about 1/2" too wide to sit nicely and would have no margin on either side. So you'd either need to be very particular in sizing when you purchased or very particular in sizing when you fold your towels.
I also am not a fan of towel rings. So, we cut down (or shortened) a large towel bar rod and still used the ends. It just becomes a baby towel rod. It works perfect for me.
I too hate towel rings. I think it’s because I grew up with what are essentially a cross between an open ring and the towel bar you’re describing. Similarly I like being able to slide a roll of TP into the little holder and hate having to take the whole center piece out, put the roll on it, and then get it back into place.
