Busy weekend here- volunteering at our Democratic HQ this morning, housewarming party for our new neighbors this afternoon, which I’m hoping will be mostly outside, then h and I are going on a date night tonight. I’m feeling lots of things about that, but I’m hopeful.
Tomorrow, we’re going to the driving range and then to brother-in-law’s house to watch football.
My big task for the day is getting flu shots for myself and the kids. DS 2 is still very scared of needles (as I was at nine) and is guaranteed to throw a massive screaming fit in Walgreen's.
DS has hit the age where he is always always hungry and I don't know how I'm going to feed him for the next 9 years, lol. There should be tween boy kibble.
Plans today were go to a pumpkin patch. We get when they open and the place is already busy. So we suck it up and stay. Then realize the pumpkins they have aren’t great. We’ve been to this one before, so it was surprising. After a hour we had done it all and decided to check out another patch 15mins away. Get there and at least they had more types of pumpkins. Let the kid run around on the free stuff, now heading home.
Our roof guy was supposed to be here at 9, but sent a text at 8:59 to ask if he could do 12 instead. Lol fine. It’s not like I’m going anywhere.
Emptied the fridge out, as our new one should be delivered at some point today.
A lot of prep (cleaning and moving furniture) because the floors are supposed to go in next week or the week after. Despite a lot of work, I’m looking forward to it being done!!

Bernadine,I hope you have some fun this weekend and that things go better than you expect.
Finishing up our paver patio here. Then looking for a scary movie to watch with DS1. DD will have to hang out with DH as we will not be watching anything she can see yet. DS2 is at my parent's this weekend. We were supposed to be at our family vacation home this week for Fall Break, but skipping it as DD gets over her tummy issue. DH has the week off so will go hiking, go to a pumpkin patch, family bike rides, and if it warms up some outdoor dining before it stays too cold. My parents will also have the other 2 over for sleepovers individually this week as well.
The weather is perfect today. This morning I slept in, and Amazon/Whole Foods delivered groceries to our porch before I even woke up. Lol. Thankfully it's cooler this morning and I think they were outside for like 30 minutes so they were fine. Then I cleaned up the front yard by pulling weeds/cutting dead flowers, and put out a few Halloween decorations. I want to get more outdoor ones, but not sure what.
H and I are going to go to a Mexican place for lunch in a little while. I don't think they have a ton of outdoor seating, so we are planning to get there around 2pm or so and hopefully will miss the lunch rush. If it's too busy we may go somewhere else, but I'll be bummed if that's the case!
I think later we're going to play a game. I have a paper due on Tuesday that I haven't even actually started writing, so I need to do that at some point too... What I really want to do is go hiking because it's perfect weather for it. I may go tomorrow.

We went to a voting event at our library - meet the candy-date. Each kid got a Hug and a Cookies n Cream Hershey’s Kiss and got to cast a ballot for their favorite.
Then we drove the adult ballots out to a drop box and made a voting morning of it. It was fun, and I always like to have my DD with me while voting. One of these times, when I vote for a woman in the White House, she’ll win.
I think I might head into the craft store this afternoon to pick up felt for Halloween costumes. DD wants to be a scarlet macaw, so her baby brother is going to be a blue and yellow macaw. I have the colorful pants and hoodies for them, but need to get felt for their feathers.
Read in the hammock for an hour with the puppy. The weather is great and no noisy construction today (yet!). My husband’s on vacation next week but we aren’t going anywhere and have no plans. Maybe getting some steamed crabs or going apple picking. We found a spot that does timed ticketing so that sounds promising.
It's foggy and cold, and I feel like I should turn on the heat, but I'm too lazy to get up so instead I'm hanging out under a blanket with one of the cats. The driveway guys showed up yesterday at about 5 pm with no notice to seal the driveway, so at least that got done before it started raining.
We have no plans for today, although it's supposed to warm up and I really need to go out and transplant my potted strawberries into the ground. I don't have anything to mulch them with, so I'm just going to hope for the best that they survive the winter. I also have a zucchini that needs harvesting that I want to eat with dinner tomorrow, a garlic that I think is ready to be harvested and cured, and I need to pull up all the dead peas, and transplant the peppers I'm going to attempt to bring inside and force into dormancy. Gardening is usually not my thing, but this is what I did with my Covid Lockdown Boredom when other people were making sourdough bread.
Today is rainy and gross. We're making some pumpkin chocolate chip bread this afternoon and slow cooker baked potato soup for dinner. I love all the fall food! I'm also very excited for the return of SNL tonight.
Tomorrow we're volunteering at our local Dem office to hand out signs and then hope to go for a hike with nicer weather.
My husband is painting the exterior of our house and I did grocery shopping. The glamour and excitement never end! I went grocery shopping and I really can't remember the last time I bought groceries. My son has been getting free breakfast and lunch at school to bring home every day. There's milk included with it and he's been on a rice cake kick so we haven't been buying bread. Without needing milk and bread we just keep avoiding shopping. I bought a ton of stuff today and when I went down to rearrange our deep freezer, I found a turkey breast, a ham and a pork shoulder. I only knew about the pork shoulder. I guess we need to get to the bottom of the freezer more often!
We are trying to go apple picking tomorrow. It's a place we've never been to and they make fresh cider donuts, and we're mostly going for that. We're getting those first, and then pick some apples. They don't have the apples I make pie with, so we will be bailing out as soon as people get on our nerves which will probably be about 15 minutes!
I'm making kielbasa in the crockpot, I've never made it before. Tonight we're having an outdoor movie and firing up our new propane table. At least tonight should be fun!

We had Trump people canvassing our house. Not sure why I’d ever be on their rolls but H took one look out the window and closed the blinds. Lol. BUT they were wearing masks, so that’s something!

You guys! My kid figured out how to ride a bike today!
I wish I could post a video. I’m so proud of him! I had to bribe him with two matchbox cars but as soon as he agreed to try it, he got it right off that bat. He’s riding like a pro now.
I had a pretty awful Thursday and Friday at work and then “the big boss” just called me on the weekend to throw another wrinkle in to everything. I really like my job, but I absolutely hate what covid has done to my job. This too shall pass, right...RIGHT??

I ordered a patio set from HD the other day and a HUGE box arrive at like 9pm on Thursday. Friday morning I opened it and it's all 4 chairs ... and no table. So I'm hoping its coming in multiple packages, but if so I would have expected the straggler by today. I hope it comes on Monday. I also bought a glider benchelsewhere that won't be delivered until early November, and my patio isn't that big! Oops. But I really wanted the bench, and I really wanted to eat on the patio. So what choice did I have?

I chanced it and went to the small park in my neighborhood. Everyone was respectful and gave each other space. I felt cute leaving the house, but seeing the other moms who were stick thin and dressed impeccably made me like an ugly blob.
I unloaded on my best friend over the phone today. We live 2 hours away and haven't seen each other in quite a while. I updated her on DD's issues. She, more than anyone outside my own family, would understand because she struggled with an eating disorder and both her boys are autistic (she believes she is on the spectrum, as well, but it's hard to be diagnosed as an adult). It was good to just talk to someone about what's going on. DH has a hard time with the feelings stuff. He listens but doesn't always know what to say.
DD and I had a movie afternoon. We lay on my bed and watched "Hidden Figures" again. We'd only seen it once, some time ago, and I loved seeing her cheer on the strong female presence. At one scene, several of the women are walking down the hallway to their new, hard-won assignments, and DD just cheered, "Yes! Strong women! In skirts and heels!"

I am with you! I keep saying the same, but it’s been 7 months. I don’t have much more steam left in me.
I organized taking down a tree at my mother's (88 and still living in her own, with a lot of help). The tree had already dropped a huge trunk in a glancing blow to the house so Mom agreed that it has to go but she was teary about it.
Well, when they cut into the base, about halfway through, water started pouring out. The tree was so hollow in parts, stretching all the way down, that rain had filled it up. They hit a channel and we watched water rush out for a couple of minutes. Mom is feeling better about the decision now. Lol
It’s been an insanely good garden year. We planted 6 tomato plants this year and they have produced over 100 lbs of tomatoes. I started making my second batch of tomato paste (about 40 lbs worth) 9 hours ago and I’ve just made it through the second cook down. A large part of tomorrow will be cooking it down further on the stove and then hours reducing in the oven.
I slept wonky last night and woke up with my neck being out of wack and sore when I move it certain ways. Of course that’s given me a headache too. So I’ve had a pretty low-key day.
Tomorrow I’ll need to grocery shop and drop a few things off at my parents’ house and probably some laundry. Otherwise who knows.
