We had the appraisal last week, and the new home appraised for $15K more than we're paying for it, which is great! The realtor said she'd never seen such a disparity in this market. I'm cautiously optimistic.
We are planning to move (as in, movers are reserved) on 10/26. Notice to vacate has been given, and if the deal falls through we'll be living in a hotel. I'm told that the final "congrats, you own the house!" comes on the day we get keys, so we're still waiting for 10/15.
Very important question - how hard is going to be for me to find parking when this whole disaster is finally over and I can come visit?
Very important!!!
There is a small strip of guest parking inside the complex, like 4 spots. If we ever have any parties, I'll have to ask people to carpool.
And fwiw, I'm comfortable with masked and socially-distanced one-on-ones in someone's home, especially if I know that person has been responsible. I just can't imagine waiting until next spring/summer to see friends again!

Well, at the moment I'm not sure I'm "safe." I'm in PT for my back, so I'm in a not very socially distant situation 2x a week (although dropping to 1x week soon). I'm also hitting the time of year all of my annual doctor appointments come due, so I've been at a doctor's office about every other week or so. And I have to be extra cautious when my MIL comes to town for her cancer appointments every ~12 weeks.
Basically I'm currently a mess, but things should calm down in the New Year (I hope!!).

@blondespiders the 15th is almost here! Fingers crossed everything goes great!
I went to a Pumpkin Patch yesterday with friends. It was fun, even though we only did the more social - distanced activities. There were a ton of people there, but it was on a huge piece of property and there was more than enough space. Glad we were able to go outside before today's thunderstorm!

Three more days! Congratulations. You house is beautiful..I particularly love the double door master entry. So elegant. I had them in my Ohio house; they were my favorite thing in a house I loved. I love the fireplace too, with the side shelving. We’re doing built ins in our family room but the hubs wants cabinets below and shelves above. I love the traditional feel of your place.
My favorite neighbor is moving. I’m going to miss them. More importantly, my dog is going to miss his playmate and ball chasing play dates. I’m jealous of their new house. It’s fantastical. In Monroe so they saved a little bit. He is now able to work from home permanently so they’re moving by family. Super fancy, right on down to the previous owners putting in blinds that open and shut with a phone app. I totally want one when I grow up.
We’re at the point where we need to start thinking about where we want to retire. This isn’t our forever home and my kids are all over the country; two in the SE (one in FL and one will be moving to FL in January.) and two in the PNW (Whidbey and Pullman.) The one moving to FL in Jan will likely be moving to CO when these last two enlistments finish. This is going to turn into my eleven years of trying to figure out wedding locations, isn’t it?
Which kid do I like best? Or should I just retire into an RV and live everywhere and nowhere.
